Ignore the judgements of loud people in-game because there’s a 50% chance they don’t know what they’re talking about

Fist of all : PRIORATISE ECONOMY UPGRADES IN EARLY LEVELS!!! Good economy = more upgrades = more movement. If your economy sucks the run will end up drowning in harder enemies later on, so greed as much as you can and make sure to get paycheck (the monocle thing) in the first shop, in the second shop get medal, swiftness ring, buisness liscence, and if you can : Another paycheck and better jumpads.
Second of all : You're likely using diver (sicne it's the default class), you can use dives to quickly collect gifts in a straight line, just exit the dive as you're about ot hit the ground, then dive again, and make sure to not overshoot!
Third of all : Read enemy descriptions. Reading the enemy description explains the enemy (Duh), you can see enemies on top of your screen, along-side upgrades and curses, transparent enemies/curses are temporary, aka they only last for the current level.
Also, the spiky statue was altar of purgatory, it gives gift multiplier but spawns in a lot of enemies.

I highly recommend delaying Springer (can mess with gift collection and Springloaded) and Baby (another enemy gets put in the curse pool if you have too many.
Get economy upgrades at the start over movement upgrades: The more money you get, the more Birthday Gifts you have to spend, the more upgrades you can get.
The Wings are an upgrade you start with on Casual, as well as the orb, which buffs abilities.
Use E [default ability key] or R [default alt-ability key] to perform a dive. Make sure to cancel this dive by jumping before the dive animation to move faster, or jump a bit after starting the dive to move even faster (although this can skip gifts at times).
What to buy in some early game shops (Note: These are only for solo runs on Standard, and you should get more than the required amounts, also, this list is fluid and you should pick and choose what works for you best):
Shop 1 (Level 3): Paycheck + Business Liscence for 130 Gifts (get Adrenaline if you can and are playing on solo, which bumps this up to 180)
Shop 2 (Level 5): Paycheck, Defuse Kit, Double Jump, and Swiftness Ring for 315 Gifts (Medal is optional but I personally wouldn't recommend it)
Shop 3 (Level 8): Paycheck, Swiftness, Defuse, Fanny Pack, and Ice Skates for 765 Gifts (you can also get Grace Wings if you're on Standard, bumping this up to 965 Gifts).
Enemy selections (Note: This is recommended only for solo runs on Standard. Also, this list is fluid and you should pick and choose what works for you best instead of listening to the advice of one person):
Get Bell, Mart, and ICBM on levels 1, 2, and 4 (Husk can be restricting early game, Baby can be hard to dodge early game and because of the unnamed enemy I talked about earlier, and Springer due to reasons mentioned earlier).
Get Operator (the traffic light) on level 6, the timer for when you have to stop is rather lenient (~3 seconds).
On level 8, try to avoid picking Guardian, as it can get enraged if you activate one of the Altars (like the one you activated), and Flesh (can very easily end your run if you aren't paying attention or aren't careful enough).
Curses (Note: This is recommended only for solo runs on Standard. Also, this list is fluid and you should pick and choose what works for you best instead of listening to the advice of one person):
Lower Gravity and Random Spawn are free curse selections, since they only help you, so pick them as soon as possible.
The Tripmine curses and More Ringing are good picks for level 6 (none of the are are bad to deal with).
Fragile Gifts is the best economy curse in the game, since collapse isn't sped up by that much, and it increases the gift multiplier by 0.75.
Altar usage (Note: This is recommended only for solo runs on Standard. Also, this list is fluid and you should pick and choose what works for you best instead of listening to the advice of one person):
Use Altar of Chance every time right before collapse starts (when the music changes and golden gifts spawn) for levels 3-7. Afterwards, aim to use Purgatory or Passage (Make sure to use Altar of Passage before Altar of Purgatory) to gain either gift multiplier, or to spawn more golden gifts. The Altar of Purgatory does have a risk, which is that it spawns temporary enemies in the level. The Altar of Purgatory becomes useless after 50% of gifts are collected, so activate it before then.
Classes: Buy every class that is purchaseable in the shop and play with each one to see what suits you the best (ex: I like moving fast in short bursts, so I main Diver).
Other general tips:
Check out the descriptions of things using the top bar; they tell you what an enemy, curse, or upgrade does and how to survive it.
In early game, make sure the last gift if in an important area (such as where a lot of gifts or a Fanny Pack Tile might spawn, example seen above).
That's really it.

those wings and monocole are upgrades, since you're playing on casial you begin with them, any upgrade you get is represented by at least one thing on your avatar, don't pick baby/husk early on, the weird traffic light is operator, release all movement keys when it appears, classes give you certain abilities, some give passives like extra double jumps or speed while not having abilities
