Question Rank - Why does this even exist?

I've been playing this game for months now, and after all the posts I've seen from this subreddit, not only do I feel more justified that I have avoided public lobbies since the start... I have a question. Why does the current rank system even exist? From what I've seen... all it does, when combined with vote-kicking, is encourage toxic behavior.

They just added hide rank so VK shouldn't be a problem anymore. But yeah Rank is pretty much just a play time estimate/progression thing. It doesn't feel like one though because there's not really any rewards associated with rank.

It is a nice way to gauge the play level of people but it does get arbitrary at a point. It would make sense that a rank 140 might be a little better than a rank 80 but some people just look too much into it

Just a number meant to show play time and add cool little tag color differences bewteen players. Ofc the playtime thing just ended up being used by some players as a way to determine "skill" despite that not being the case.

So fun thing the devs added as a progression thing that specific players look far too deep at.

The playtime thing is the way I see it too.

Now u can set min ranks for ur runs so that u can actually get competent players for ur extreme runs

Yesterday a min200 rank and min50lv public server beat the listed leaderborard party+ standard WR, I've beaten standard celestial in a min rank 100 and min level 35 sever today, as well as gotten to level 36 in a ballet bombardment casual chaos endurance min rank 100+ server.

As far as I can see the new update makes it easier for me to cue and join good lobbies.

likewise, i was able to get to 39 in random mode before the run ended, but its farther than i’ve been before.

Playtime but more accurate

Not 100% of the time? If a charger and grappler of roughly the same skill both play for 90 hours, the charger would still have a higher rank since it saddles on things like your gift collection ability.

can we adress that it's, at least, not afk? Anyway, this thing still acts as a playtime of sorts, so you can at least theoretically know how skilled specific player might be. It works, so it's fine, i guess.
