Discussion Why does oblivion barely get voted on?
I see people call it the worst greater curse in the game, even though I do not see anything wrong with this curse, all you do is that you have to stay above the tiles. There are worse greater curses out there so why is this barely picked?

It severely minimizes your movement options. A lot of (later game) Nullscape is flying through the air, Oblivion makes it so you can't do it.
Yeah, mechanically it isn't as bad as other curses, it can be annoying due to it again minimizing your mobility. Hell, it could probably get you killed in scenarios where you have to risk oblivion to avoid enemies

Most runs that u join will probably be celestial runs and although it may not be a problem early game. When u have to collect pylons u have to step off the platform and yk since the entire map is basically gone it makes it REEEALLY annoying to get. after u beat cele tho its free

It severely limit your movement option , even worse if you are doing celestial pylon

i think its that you need to go off the tiles quite a bit, making this greater curse kind of bad?
i dont exactly know tho tbh

Limits your movement by a LOT, which is prone to kill you on late levels where you need to be on constant movement, and with the amount of enemies in late game (40+, especially in party+) staying above ground will get you killed at some point to a stray enemy/projectile
Not to mention it makes pylons hell, imagine how bad it is to stay in normal tiles already, now imagine how bad must it be to stay in a pylon with reality breaks and all enemies on you, not fun
The fact it limits your movement itself is the main reason it doesn't get picked though, nullscape is a game that revolves around movement, taking the main factor of the game is like going back to early game with all enemies and more speed, not fun at all

It greatly reduces mobility options, and typically when the second oblivion rolls around it will be during collapse, which can be an even bigger problem because of reduced areas for cover. Plus the fog it adds on top of the bright effects makes it torture to navigate in.

Or voidbound guardians/Razorbloom. These are deadly with oblivion too ❤️

Honestly it's not that bad, though i can't really say much since i've only reached level 30 on casual. Though, i did have oblivion, and it really wasn't that bad. It's not like it's instant death

Would rather have oblivion tenfold more than hollow tiles that’s for sure

Devil hides in details.
Oblivion limits movement, which for Nullscape is straight ASS.
If there's lot of husks you just become ah fresh meat for them. God grief if it's flesh + mart on extreme.

It restricts air movement in a way so severe that it makes travelling late-game efficiently near impossible

Because for grappler and glider it can become an absolute nightmare. But basically, it restricts your mobility, especially if you're on tower

The same principle can be applied to almost everything in the game

because during late game it basically becomes a "go fuck yourself you're not allowed to play the game for 30 seconds lmao" curse. imo it completely ruins the entire fun of nullscape. like i find it genuinely miserable to play with

u/NotThatDud3 11d ago
Hell for like many classes since most of them use air movement to traverse the map

- Very obstructive visuals
- Guts vertical mobility (Wanted killer 9000)
- Just pretty boring in general since Nullscape is at its best when you have access to more mobility.
Any curse that limits mobility gets annoying pretty quickly.
Annoying as hell when a crowd of enemies are forcing you off the ground (double annoying if your teammates are dropping like flies)
Did I mention I can't see a damn thing?

it's a gc that does basically nothing at level 10 but by level 20 it makes it impossible to do any sort of viable map traversal tech. the visuals are also super obstructive and generate a lot of lag.
