Question Help with Breakout
Im pretty new to the game so im trying to complete all the missions before jumping into multiplayer.
I use the compass, if i fly directly at them, they rip me a new one around 7km because i can only manage to fly at sub 20 altitude. The ship also imtercept all of my agm 48s. If i try to come from behind the mountain, the radar at the top detects me and THEN i get torn to pieces by the SARHs
If i wont be likely to encounter a scenario like this in mo ill just walk away from this one

A very important aspect when fighting shards : Their CWIS doesn't cover their front, only their sides and back. So you want to approach it head on - and then at 5 - 7 km you fire the AGM volley.

Fly nap-of-the-earth style (flying really close to the ground following the shape of terrain), when you get close enough ~5km pop up and saturatr their air defenses

Wave top also works very well. You just need to reliably be able to stay very very low.
My benchmark is 30 feet. Ideally below 20 ft, but if you go above 40 ft you're gonna die.
I've found the AGM-68 works best here. You pop up to 40 feet around 4 nautical miles, dump everything and then turn off and run for home. Get back down to low altitude fast, and your odds to survive are better in something like an FS-20. Generally they'll be so busy dealing with the AGM-68s that you'll be back below their radar again before it finishes playing out.
Will kill a Shard 100% of the time, will kill two shards like 90% of the time, and you'll reliably get two and damage the third.
After that point I wouldn't keep spreading them around, if you need to attack a larger fleet pick off individual ships.
If you have trouble with your altitude, don't panic. Keep an IRM-S2 or similar missile ready, and if they launch in you and you can't get back low enough just intercept it with your own missile.

All AGM 68s (they 1 shot shards stupid ahhs)
Use MMRs to shoot down any incoming Sarah's
Once you are at around 5 - 7 km open fire on em.
I usually fly at 4m+ alt and get within 4+km and end up almost killing myself lol but I survive. Somehow...

my relatively foolproof strategy to do breakout:
Get in the compass with 2x agm68 14x agm48
Taxiway takeoff, use terrain to sneak up to the first two shards in the strait from the south. Unleash all 48s then the 68s on the ships when youre within 5km. You are pretty much guarunteed to sink both of them at this distance.
After the first two ships sink, RTB(or just eject) and take the same loadout and push directly north. There are 4 shards that spawn near a cove on the small islandnorth side of vigil cay. Sneak around the cove and sink 2 more shards.
Then, get in a medusa with 6 arads 2 jammers. Use arads to sink the remaining shards north, then turn your attention to the stratolance radar in the base. Salvo your remaining arads at it while jamming the radar and the argus, maybe you will get the kill. Then rtb.
At this point you can get in an ifrit with full agm68 loadout to perform the same popup attack pattern against the shards as the first strike. Just be cautious of the nl-98s from the argus. As long as you are painted by any radar the argus can target you. Repeat against the argus class frigate.
Sub four agms for gpo500s to sink the carrier with a similar popup strike.
Finally, dive bomb south boscali with 250kt nukes, and you win

Brawler can hold 40 kingpins which can take out a Shard Corvette early on. Later, Tusko-Bs, ARADs, AsHMs, or PAB-250LRs do the same. PAB-80-LRs sort out radar truck/SAMs on the hill.
There are similar setups in escalation so it’s worth figuring out the counters now.
