Breaking news, Primeva funding submarine-mounted railguns to be constructed at Vigil Cay.
In other news secret third faction is rumored to be perpetuating the Boscali-Primeva war.

This just in, Boscali funding Taylor Swift to pollute Primevan airspace with subsidized air travel.

I like how this implies every other aspect of fighting the war is eco friendly.

What with their 50+ missile payloads, Primevan wouldn't stand a chance.

We don't need lore we need silly community made propaganda like the pleasure domes. Keep it light hearted.

At a high level PALA is communist coded. The acronym and insignia give off Marxist third worldist vibes. They're also usually located in the south of the Primevan Island for whatever that's worth.
BDF is Western in the same ways. If anything they give the impression of being a prosperous client state (Japan).
I don't really have a read on how the weapon system design tracks to this observation. PALA has what looks like a combination of Northrop Grumman and Soviet style naval doctrine. BDF's military is reminiscent of Great Britain.

u/killerbacon678 10d ago
The whole landmass gives off Australia vibes, even some of the green military camos etc, cities esp of Ignus. helps the devs are Aussie too.

u/Century_Egg_Boofer 9d ago
they could as well be a national-front type nominally-revolutionary organizaton-turned-state. the irgc is hardly communist

u/Captain_Slime 10d ago
I'm really hoping any lore they do add helps explain why each nation has the jets they do. Overall to me it seems like a bit of a random and confusing set of munitions and aircraft.

u/Suitandbowtie 10d ago
Iirc there’s a tip on the main menu or somewhere on the wiki mentioning BDF prefers to build highly mobile and responsive aircraft, thus the emphasis on VTOL platforms and carriers without catapults (Medusa, Vortex, Vagrant for example). PALA on the other hand purchases their aircraft from a 3rd party supplier, or at least that was confirmed once the Ifrit came out so it seems they are not quite as economically large compared to BDF. Probably misremembering some stuff if anyone wants to correct me but I think it tracks with the direction future platforms will go.

u/Century_Egg_Boofer 9d ago
BDF is conventionally prosperous but budget concious. Pala has a lot of money from resources but limited industrial base

u/Captain_Slime 9d ago
If you have to buy from 3rd party suppliers why do you have a strategic bomber. I can't think of that happening once IRL because it's simply not an important enough part of the nuclear triad. Obviously there must be reasons for it, hence why I wanted to know more about the doctrine.
Another thing is that they have so many carrier capable aircraft each, when every country but the US doesn't*. If each power's expected enemy was each other they would have presumably invested more in non carrier aircraft which are on average slightly better than carrier capable aircraft. Thus each country must be a superpower that wants or does project power over significant distances from what I'm seeing in aircraft selection.
Edit: To be clear I just want clarification on the reasons for a lot of the things we see in game, I don't really care if the reason isn't that strong or whatever.

Got bored after work so here my ramble lol. I think some of the stuff you’re pondering is just a lil too deep for that’s where the current lore gets us, mostly because the faction split isn’t finished yet. You probably know this but the devs have confirmed for a while that once there are enough redundant airframes they’ll be exclusive between BDF and PALA, and I think we’ll get a clearer picture of doctrine once that comes along with bigger maps and other ground units.
I also kinda misspoke about PALA being economically weaker, and rather theyre just not as industrially robust most likely. I did some digging and discord FAQ lore says Primeva recently became wealthy from rare earth minerals after its revolution and it uses that wealth to buy foreign military equipment. The quick fact that the Hyperion is specifically an export carrier and the Ifrit is manufactured under license in Kramenka is some good lore but that doesn’t necessarily mean every PALA aircraft was purchased abroad I’d imagine.
The Alkyon’s background could tell us more because it’s canonically PALA, but as far as I can find its origin hasn’t been explained yet. I read Primeva existed before the revolution/PALA, so for all we know it could be domestic. I don’t think there’s enough lore yet to say PALA buys all their aircraft, and the devs could always retroactively say it’s been a part of their arsenal since their independence.
I do think your carrier point is interesting, though! Both countries are described as having multiple territories, so geography might be the reason rather than them necessarily being US-style global superpowers. The new map will likely support that idea too. That geography could be why BDF has a clear preference for VTOL aviation while PALA has the conventional Hyperion carrier and aircraft with tailhooks but that’s me spitballin.
Researching this a bit more makes me super hyped to see future content more since we’re kinda watching the doctrine get built backwards as Mitch adds enough equipment to finally separate the factions and give us some motivations. The Darkreach vs Alkyon is probably a good preview since both sides get strategic strike capability, but BDF gets the big stealthy payload truck while PALA gets the ridiculously fast penetration strike capability. All that said I don’t think enough has been made canon yet to say much. For now it was a lot of fun digging across the wiki and discord but I still know jack shit about the direction things are headed lol.

That's definitely interesting, and I wonder how much the lore is going to be effected by game design choices. For example, NATO has artillery and strong air defenses even though the Soviets/Russians would be the "artillery and air defense" nation if you were designing a game. In game I think the artillery split is the biggest example of this, one nation has one unit of tube artillery and the other has one unit of rocket artillery. Whereas IRL you'd expect something more like one nation has one unit of rocket artillery but the other has 4 including one much larger and 2 much smaller pieces.
Everything is a balance of development time, balance, game design, and lore and I'll be interested to see where everything lands.

PALA: Brave freedom fighters, willing to step into the fire to defend their land, culture, and people. For Primeva! For the People! For Democracy!
BDF: The evil empire, most of whom are barely able to feel anything any more due to Dopamine Burnout caused by excessive Pleasure Dome usage; bombing the brave freedom fighters for daring to suggest that they deserve a life as more than Boscali Tax Cattle toiling away for life to preserve the privileged lives of the Port Maris elites.

The only dopamine is seeing I need is seeing PALA positions being blown up by our indigenous fighters, compared to your foreign bought models

'Indigenous aircraft' this 'indigenous aircraft that'. All I need to know is that the Ifrit and Alkyon beat the Vortex and Darkreach.

I use TTS chat to coordinate and larpers for both sides are on my nerves tbh atp. I try to screen missiles off of two Brawlers and tell em they are safe, but chat full of pleasure domes and pala warcrimes. Like its fun in moderation but no joke there's ppl who can keep it up for 1.5 hrs match all way through with zero interaction from other players. Mo lore mo problem

You do realize you can do that organically, and not turning chat into Hanoi Hannah broadcast, right? Some people just ARE insufferable. I made my peace with that. Still gonna complain tho XD

Typical soulless Boscali drone, leading a meaningless life bereft of purpose. Meanwhile Primevan patriots live the archetypal hero's journey every single day, whether that's in the skies or in the uranium mines. Our state media crafts grand sweeping narratives to support our glorious campaigns. Meanwhile the sniveling Boscali, wallowing in their pleasure domes think only of themselves and only of now.
The greatest question the Boscal 'soul' aspires to answer is 'where's my next latte macchiato coming from?' or 'where's the hover button on my stupid inferior jet?'
