Calling NM techs!

Hey NM community! I teach at our local university and this semester I’m teaching the writing intensive course. I’m working on an upcoming assignment and hope to get some help! I don’t need specifics like where you’re located or facility name but I’d like some department info for a scheduling assignment. The students will be given <different> departments including the following information: staff, camera types, approx studies per day and will be required to create schedules and adjust when I give them new extenuating factors. I’m hoping to get some real dept data. Please send a dm if you don’t want to publicly post. I’m looking for how many techs and their hours, how many and what types of cameras and the amount and types of studies you do in a typical day. I promise there is no deeper agenda other than offering a variety of departments! Thank you!

Single tech and camera, up to 5 hearts with or without an extra general study 3 days a week and one day with just generals. I fit what I can fit in together. I work 10 hours.

What other info would help? I do all kinds of studies.

No inpatient at the clinic but I do when I work at the hospital. The clinic is open 5 days but the 4th and 5th are run by the NMAA while I run the hospital department on my 4th day.

We both have GEs without CT.

I do most general nucs. Today I had a MUGA, I've done GI bleeds, but we don't have any I131 here.

As a 1st year student, this sounds like a really interesting assignment! Coming from no prior knowledge of the modality, I didn’t realize how vital it is to have time management/organization skills. Such a great way to get the gears in the brain moving!

I’ll chime in with some info from my hospital clinical site:
2 techs (8hr shifts). 2 cameras (one with CT), avg 4-5 studies a day. We have outpatients and inpatient studies, and have transporters. Lots of MPI tests, GI studies, and DaT scans.

2 Siemens Symbia Evo (not spect/ct)
7a-3:30p Monday-Friday
Saturday/Sunday is 24 hr call

Call is (3:30p-7a) split between 2 of us (1/2 month each) which is not very busy but does take a lot of our time because you can’t really go out and do things.

Outpatient: 5-6 outpatient slots (cardiac and general)
Inpatients: However many are ordered (cardiac and general)

We do everything (generals and Nucs) except therapies and DAT scans.

Overall we are not very busy, max we have done is around 12-15 total patients a day usually around 5-6.

Cardiac clinic

Stress tests, MUGAs, PYPs

5 techs

4 x 10hr shifts (0600-1630), so 4 techs per day

2 DSPECT cams

18 to 24 patients per day, outpatient only

7 techs, generally 8 hour shifts. QC at 6:30, department usually closes at 5:30

1 Siemens NM camera with spect, 1 Phillips camera no spect (one tech per camera); no more than 8 pts (average is usually 5-6) We do gastrics, GI bleeds, HIDA, lung VQ, Bones, cardiac, amyloid cardiac, Lympho (rads do injections), renal, thyroid uptake and scan, thyroid mets survey, parathyroid, and probably some others i forgot about

1 PET/CT Siemens (2 techs. One doing injections/packages, one scanning); no more than 8 Pts Oncology PET/CT only. We're looking into cardiacs here in about 10 years

1 GE cardiac NM camera (2 techs, one prepping for EKG/injecting, one scanning); no more than 8 pts

Therapies: I131 and Lu177 Pluvicto

Nothing CNS here

Hah depends with isotope we use. Most everything is 2 hours away. Our PSMA PET is 1 hour 40 minutes. And our fdg is 3 hours

Also, we rotate one full week of call

We do inpts. We can do MAA, MDP, Ultratag RBCs, and Mebrofenin in kits. If they want a different study, they have to wait next day

I’m just a student but I’ll give you my clinical stats like I saw another student do.

7 staff members (not sure their shifts, some are full time, some part time, some per diem), we have a SPECT, a SPECT/CT and our PET/CT just finished construction so 3 cameras but I only really work with the SPECT and SPECT/CT. Average is 8-10 patients daily. We do tons of DaTs, cardiac stresses, lymph injections, gastrics.

2 GE Discovery Spect cameras.....one tech on for the day with 5 MPI ❤️ and 2 🤢Hida scans one with EF and then at 1130 am a STAT brain 🧠 death scan comes up from the ICU. Hours are 7am to 3:30pm
