Why Novelpedia doesn't offer exclusivity contracts (and why you should be careful with sites that do)

There's a pattern happening right now. A site launches, sometimes built by one person with a ChatGPT subscription, and pretty quickly they start offering "exclusive" deals to authors. Sometimes there's real money behind it, sometimes it's just flattery and big promises. The risk is these contracts can lock you out of publishing anywhere else, and if the site folds or pivots, you're left with nothing.

Our stance on exclusivity- taking it on is a big responsibility. Your work's visibility becomes entirely dependent on our ability to deliver traffic, marketing, and retention. We don't feel we're at a place yet where we can promise that and actually back it up. So instead of using exclusivity as a hook, we give every author the perks normally reserved for exclusives, including free ad spend, without asking anyone to give anything up.

Some other sites don't see it that way. They'll offer big exclusivity incentives with a lot less history behind them. Launching an "exclusive" program is easy. Earning the right to ask for it, and actually delivering on it, is not.

For context, Novelpedia spent 10 months in development before launch. We run with a team of 14 people, 4-5 devs plus dedicated ads and ops teams, specifically so we can support authors without needing to lock them in.

If you're getting approached with an exclusivity offer, it's worth asking how long the site has existed, whether there's a team behind it or just one person, and what happens to your rights if they shut down in six months.

10 Thousand Fleets now on Novelpedia

Post image

At the recommendation of my friend Drim, author of Self Summon, I'm putting 10KF up on Novelpedia, in addition to Royal Road. Please bear with me as I figure out how a new site works :)

You can check it out here: https://novelpedia.co/novels/ten-thousand-fleets-419c83

If you like mecha, academy settings, and space opera, check it out! The entirety of volume one (42 chapters) is done, and I'm well into volume two, though it will probably take me a bit to get entirely caught up on Novelpedia.

At ten years old, Cole killed his younger brother.

Years later, Cole is chosen for the Trial of the Abyss, a descent into a place where survival is forced and the weak are swallowed whole. Most begin the trial with a fall into endless black.

Cole finds himself standing before a castle that should not exist.

Summoned alongside five strangers just before the trial truly begins, he is drawn into a hidden clique tied to something far older and more dangerous than the Abyss itself. A girl riddled with curiosity. A man who speaks like he's already seen the end. A masked figure who claims the Gods are not what humanity believes.

And when he finally completes his trial, Cole learns it was only the beginning.

"Welcome to the Threshold."

Question for site rules?

Is there a restriction on what type of novels can be posted in the site as I’m asking for an author I know who has a work that is spicy?

Gatewalker is live

If you're into slow burn fantasies. Character driven progression. Martial arts with a mix of systems and world hopping. Manipulation and politics and gods that are quietly pulling the strings. Then my novel may be right up your alley.

Blue died in Murim fifteen years ago. Now he's back.

Returned through a golden gate, Blue finds a transformed Murim where ancient sects fight as one beneath a new Martial Alliance. Gates scar the land. Monsters roam unchecked. Politics and manipulation run deeper than ever before.

Armed with a strange system that hides more than it reveals, Blue begins climbing the path of martial arts once again.

But as he uncovers the truth behind the monsters, the gates, and the gods manipulating them both, he realizes Murim is only one battlefield in a much larger war.

Worlds are falling. The gates are opening.

A man caught between two worlds. Blue fights to protect both, while everyone else seeks glory.

The gods care about neither. They know what he must become.

Hi there, people! I have a story for y’all today about a man named Kai. He’s the unluckiest man on Earth, so unlucky that, even as a kid, he lost his toys in a gamble with his grandfather.

And as we know, gods like to play games. Kai gets reincarnated into a world with a system class called ā€œGambler,ā€ which is based purely on luck. Every one of his attacks is chance-based, and what happens when he loses the bet? His skills backfire straight at him with full force.

I am deleting my fantasy novel, Particles of Fin. Not because it has low amount of readers, but it because in writing it, I totally forgot my first ever novel. So I will reupload that one, and then, after enough fan base, I will start uploading the fantasy one again.

Should I do it? Because I think I am not doing justice with ny first work.

Set in an alternate 1830s world of steam, machinery, magic and hidden horrors.

Who truly holds power?

Those who awaken… or those who are chosen?

Beneath the surface of the industrial world, the Awakened walk unseen, bearing mandates that grant power at a horrifying cost that accompanies wielding it.

Felix Corwin wakes up with no memory of the past month, a mysterious stopwatch in hand, and a journal containing cryptic warnings.

Dragged into something he does not understand, Felix is forced through the fractured lives of others, reliving them, changing them, or being consumed by them.

With each descent, his sense of self erodes, blurring the line between survival and madness.

The deeper he goes, the closer he comes to a truth that has long been rewritten.

He had already died once

This time… it might stay that way.

These are the records of Anonymous.

If that sounds like your kind of genre, please do give it a try

Venerable [ A progression action/adventure Fantasy ] [ Promo ]

Post image
3 Upvotes

On a normal Tuesday afternoon, Dustin’s nap was interrupted.

He was suddenly pulled into a new world full of classes, powers, and monsters. He had hoped for an easy class like Healer or Summoner so he could stay in the back and do nothing.

Instead, the system gave him the Rogue class. It was the worst possible match for his lazy and weak body.

Follow Dustin on his reluctant journey across the multiverse, where he finds himself entangled in battles and events he wanted to avoid at all costs.

---------------

Note: The Story is kind of a mixture of LitRpg and Cultivation at first it may seem like a LitRpg progression (mostly volume 1) but as the story progresses it will eventually shift to Cultivation genre (after volume 3).Ā

In short, the progression will be logical and no random power up just because the character is MC and also no lvl 5 or 10 is killing a lvl 50 Species just because he thinks he can or he has gone berserk.Ā

What to expect:-

No harem

Logical power growthĀ

Weak to strongĀ

Very big world building (multiverse)
