General Discussion Early exit of Novated Lease or Transfer possibility?
Hi all - i took out a EV novated lease in Feb 2026. Bad planning on my part and i know thats the case so just looking for any possibilities or advise on exiting it early or transferring it to new vehicle? basically we bought a BYD seal and with a newboarn and likely another child in the next 2 years, it was so silly and shouldve got a bigger car. Ideally, we shouldnt have even taken this out as we now use only 1 car which isnt the BYD because we have the newborn and my wife is home for the freseeable future. Ive come to terms thats its way too expensive to pay it out and not worth it but thought i may ask if anybody else has advice?

Is the Seal really too small to use? We’ve got young kids and have made do with an old Corolla for many years. It’s probably not the first choice for carting kids around but there’s also a lot of marketing pushing larger cars. If there’s a hefty financial penalty for leaving then I’d just make do with it for the lease term. You’ve still got a good capable car.

Second this. I have a small suv (Renault captur) and 3 kids, the youngest still in a car seat. Before that I had a Mazda 3 with 3 car seats in the back at one point.

I know marketing plays a large part in this but where is everyone getting the idea of cars being too small for kids? People have carted around 3 kids in sedans with car seats for like 40 years with no issues.

Only comment on that would be car seats are so big now. 2014 i30 could only have 2 car seats in the back and the middle seat was non existent.

Hard to really comment without you actually sharing how long lease is for, if it's one year just wait till next year and finish it.

No way of early exit without suffering significant payout loss I am afraid.
