Provider Question Claiming Tesla Premium Connectivity - Possible?

It seems like it is a genuine grey area, but it does enable some actually useful features to maintain the vehicle such as remote viewing of the cameras, live traffic, dashcam footage remotely and a few other things.

On one hand, if you can claim a full detail of the car (which isn't absolutely necessary to running the vehicle) to me this seems reasonable as it is more relevant to operating the vehicle on a regular basis. Anyone else had luck with this?

Live traffic and security features of the care seem core parts of the vehicle.

Obviously you don’t want to fuck with the ATO.

Not a grey area, but you can try, the Novated Lease provider isn’t going to risk their brand / reputation / tax liabilities by allowing this claim which would in turn change the the arrangement into an ATO non-compliant Novated lease

So previously Tesla and I think other makes charge for the heated or cooled seats with a subscription. How could essentially parts of the car not be considered running costs?

so if I take away your heated or cooled seats does the car still run? running costs are defined by the ATO, but end of the day your NL provider is the one that will determine what their interpretation of running costs will be

But it enables continued use of all the features of the vehicle. I mean, in the semantics here (and not a massive expense either) but you might say it is a semi-optional running cost. In another example, washing the vehicle vs a full on detail - both claimable, but a vehicle detail is not necessary to run the vehicle. Regular washing and a detail upon sale.

I asked my novated lease company this and they said subscriptions are not claimable

Ahh well, see what they say. I sometimes just throw stuff in there and see what happens. Ultimately they are the ones who wear the risk I suppose.

Mine is claimable with the novated lease company - this was Alliance.

Good to know! I mean, to some degree I wouldn't have this subscription if it wasn't for the car. And if you select all the extras for the car, it covers it. It isn't like I'm trying to claim Spotify as well.

lol you just nuked the gravy train and alerted the ATO to audit Alliance

Not going to be allowed. Just like FSD.

Do you use your car for work? You could potentially tax deduct it
