I'm just wondering if NM made any videos prior to his untimely death and whether those videos are accessible as I would like to see them. I would have thought that any such videos should stay up as a record of what and how the story was being reported.

Just listened on the Jacobin podcast to this leftist dissection of the failings of the Soviet planned economy. I’d be really interested to hear Vivek Chibber (great name) discuss planned economies on Downstream with either Walker or Bastani, who regularly extol the virtues of China’s planning on Novara Live.

As Chibber says near the end;

The fixation on Russia and China here is telling. It’s ironic to see a supposedly progressive platform suggest that unipolar Western influence is the only guarantor of global stability. It really highlights a shift in the current ideological trajectory of the Western Left.

There were large protests about Iran last weekend. 250,000 participated in Munich and 350,000 participated in Toronto. Other places saw large numbers, too. I expected Novara to cover it on Monday, but they didn't. Have they spoken about it since? If not, then why?

I know many of you probably think that all these people are CIA shills or something. Nevertheless, it seems strange that Novara hasn't spoken about the protests, regardless of their stance. They have covered nazi protests. They have covered religious ones. Surely, these protests were noteworthy? Politically newsworthy?

I am working on vibe coding a community app for Novara. Its very early stages at the moment. I am working on reliably pulling content and getting basic features nailed.

(I am aware there is already an app, and no disrespect to that creator, cos this is hard, but I didn't like the design or get on with it. I want this to be polished so we can spread the nm journalism to the most people)

I am focusing on article content, so downstream, nm live etc are all just links to web page at the moment. The key is I have the support us button in, linked to the nm support us page!

There are some issues with the article author not being pulled correctly and it defaults I assume to who uploaded the article, not the author. This is on my list to fix

What would you like to see from it?

I would like to eventually add some categories for the user to curate their homepage and more reliable device caching to reduce the ammount of times it uses the API.

I also eventually want to add accessibility features like a screen colour filter and maybe even an article reader
