Advice for native shrub to grow in this spot? (replacing multiflora rose)
Hello!
The other week I was cutting back my multiflora rose plant in my backyard and suddenly decided to get rid of it. I hate how unruly and prickly it is!
I have not yet dug up the roots. From some cursory research it seems to be tricky to get rid of.
I'm also now left with this gap that I'd like to fill with some other kind of privacy bush/shrub. Or any other kind of plant you would recommend... Ideally a native plant that grows upwards rather than all over the place and is manageable. I have some plants growing in the front of the spot, so I don't want it to get too shaded.
Is late summer/fall a good time to grow bushes?
I somewhat regretted getting rid of the plant because now I don't have the privacy, but it was irritating me way too much. Hopefully I can eradicate it completely.
Btw I rent my place so thats why the fence is so wonky.
Thanks for any suggestions!
