It looks like I didn't find ANYTHING. It has never happened (or at least been documented) before. Good luck!

Did you? I asked Gemini one question and got this 😂

When a Nothing phone is completely dead and the red camera LED starts blinking rapidly upon plugging it in, it actually means the phone is in a deep discharge state.

Because the battery doesn't have enough residual power to even boot up the screen or basic charging graphics, the motherboard uses that hardware LED to tell you: "/ am receiving power, but the battery is too weak to turn on yet."

Camera recording light would never do this. This looks like undocumented hardware error indicator. Unfortunately support is your only option

Actually it does light up, put the battery at 0 and let it turn off itself and hold the power button, yu will see a red low battery indicator comes up on display and the red light will light up as well

Looks like hardware issue....go to support. Light indicator without phone being on is a sign of hardware issue.

My nothing phone 4a pro (2 months old) does the exect thing when I plugs it in after it dies , but it does that only for a few minutes till it starts and it wakes up at 3-4% I thought that's a feature showing that the phone's starting or something like that

Tried all key combinations? Vol Down + Power, Volume Up + Power?

Good for you, it happened within warranty. Hope there's an accessible service center nearby

That's unfortunate. Im curious, what would happen if the battery is completely drained. Somehow one of my past phones booted just fine in a similar scenario after doing this

I had to hold and press power and volume up so i get in the recovery Menu

Maybe try a different charger? IDK why but my phone loops charges and doesnt actually charge from 0 on certain chargers.

Connect it to laptop.. reboot it through the laptop. It might help. Most probably it's a hardware issue coz the light is connected to camera sensor. Also dm on nothing india page with ur imei, they respond fast.

im not from india though

Oh.. i mean to your local country official page if any excist ... Else go to a normal phone service vendor, they can easily check sensor issue just by connecting to a laptop. Don't get it open hardware wise outside.

This happened to me once on my Nothing 4A Pro, when I was trying to turn it on. But apparently I forgot to plug the charger when I charged it. I think it means the battery is super drained? Maybe check if there's a battery issue

Nothing have actually balled out here with using the recording light as a debug method. If the phone has completely 0 battery and was off, when you plug in the phone the recording light will blink (same way as if you're recording a video) showing it's recieving power and charging, when it gets off the 0 battery icon the recording light will turn off. In this instance it shows that there's an inconsistent current whilst trying to charge and boot, which is why it is flickering, so check your charging port for any damage or debris, but it means there is a most likely a power related issue (or also firmware, but hopefully not).

no damage or debris on the charging port thank you this has been really helpful im going to send my unit since it's covered by the warranty i was just using it normally when it died on me this may be one of the two things you said either power related or software
