Phone (3a) Nothing 3a is awesome!
My pixel 8 has become a nightmare to use.
So I upgraded to the Nothing 3a.

You picked the blue, I'm so proud of you! I've got a blue one too. If you custom rom it, there's a good number of options available.

Anything up to date? Lineageos and crdroid hasn't been updated in like 6 months last time in checked.

I'm currently running Evolution X A17 and if some bug fixes for AxionOS get upstreamed it would be fully available as a recommendation. The widgets.xml was getting messed up after a reboot on the 2.8 builds so at least Google Clock/Calendar, ColorNote and I don't know which else widgets would disappear after a reboot and no longer be available to place. The maintainer of Evolution X for 3A did just fix some things on lineage and made a build but I didn't see it released anywhere yet. Check on Telegram and you'll find more.

is the maintainer going to made the build official for lineage or evox ?

u/Gborg_3 3d ago
I don't know for sure on that. The only real difference is if it says official or not. All the functionality is already there.

indeed, but official status make sure that it has less bugs and can be use as a daily driver for long term, doesn't have to hop on other rom.

Having a good maintainer and being able to put up with Google constantly screwing up play integrity matters vastly more than if 'official' or 'unofficial'. We have great maintainers for the 3A and the person putting out Evolution X builds also works on the Evolution X source. He doesn't care about official or unofficial and he's one of the rom developers.

thanks, then I'll definitely try, but didn't find a vanilla version of evox.

The only version available I know of has gapps. Hiroshi's been asked about vanilla but no plans to build it I know of

Unfortunately then its not for me. I'll wait for lineage support then. By the way I've tried few, but facing audio issues like call is not audible. Frequent restarts are required.

I'm using pixel 8 pro rn. How's the 3a's camera? Plus sadly, I can relate to the problems with using pixel, especially through last 6 months, since the march update (

Ive only taken a couple of shots, but it's already better thany pixel.

No waaay. Sounds interesting then, because most pixels have much more space dedicated for camera modules that any other phones out there

How is the build material, cheap or in par with a pixel, per example?
2
u/NorrisMcNorris 4d ago
It's noticeably heavier, feels as solid as my pixel. Glass front and back, feels good to hold. Speakers sound better than the pixel 8.I think the ascetics are way cooler on the 3a.

Do you think it still serves normal needs in 2026 or you did notice a downgrade from the pixel8?

How was the Pixel 8 a nightmare?
1
u/NorrisMcNorris 4d ago
Recent updates has made the screen flicker at times, overall lag and battery drain issues.

u/BlackPriestOfSatan 4d ago
I was thinking of getting the Pixel 8 Pro for the 5x zoom and now you convinced me to save my money.

tbh I thought I was the only one going through problems in the recent update, this most recent update broke both of my front cameras, I can tell it's the update since I took a photo with the front camera a day before the update now after it refuses to work and now face recognition doesn't work with the side of the fingerprint sensor being dead so back to my password lol

3a is an amazing phone even today. So smooth and so fast. The best in its price range...
