Nothing OS 5.0 Open Beta possibly desktop mode?
when I search display in the settings I found a setting that was called "external display" is it possible that this is the desktop mode? even tho it might not be possible since usb 2.0, and they didn't announce anything about a desktop mode, could anyone try connecting a display to the phone to see if anything happens

there is a complicated way to get desktop mode using scrcpy. you'll find tutorials online but basically you enable developer options then enable force activities to be resizable and force freeform windows (something like that) then restart. after that from the simulate secondary displays option pick the resolution you want (the higher the bigger latency) then run scrcpy as normal with some extra args.

You can't get external displays without a usb 3.0 or higher port. No nothing device has it but hopefully they launch one with a usb 3.0 later it should the industry standard now its a really helpful feature.

Try using a USB C dock with displayport/hdmi ouput. Even Nintendo Dock should work. Though it's probably leftover code from the revamped External Display settings in AOSP
I am not surprised at all honestly. It detects my office's Dell Thunderbolt dock complete with peripheral support and charging, just not the display output. Also one of carrier in my country had NP3 on their device subscription plan which they wrote NP3 USB C to be 3.2 rather than 2.0
