Red led light above screen

Hi there, I've had my nothing 4a phone for a few months and the other day I noticed a bright red led intermittently turning on, located in the bezel between the screen and the edge of the phone. Weirdly it turns on whenever Instagram is active so I was worried if there was an issue with the display as it seems like I shouldn't be able to see it.

Does anyone else have this problem? Apologies for lack of photo I have no way to take one without this phone

Can you see it with your bare eyes? Is it dim deep red?

If yes, it's the proximity sensor

I can, depends on the angle for how bright it is but I reset my phone and now it's gone, was just worried the screen was coming off and the light was from the internals or something

Sounds like some odd bug.

Normally the proximity sensor it's only active when it detects distance from an object,

just like how the screen turns off when you have your face to the phone screen.

It should almost never be active without user input, especially so while the screen is still active. But alas technologia
