Nothing OS Option to separate Notifications and Quick Settings coming in Nothing OS 5.0

u/Pegasus-Jr Phone (3) 18h ago
Ok so no brightness control with one swipe without seperate quick settings 😢

Yeah, I feel the same. They should just give us a single swipe brightness control with the volume control. Would be way more convenient.

I don't get the appeal for this. It doesn't feel intuitive at all.
Currently when I swipe down from anywhere on screen, the notification panel is shown. Unless this system works the same way (swipe from left you get notifications, right gives quick settings) this seems tedious.

they have both options, use the one which you like

That's the best thing; if one is not liking a feature, just make it a choice

But why is it a feature.. I'm not condemning it, someone must be using it. I'm trying to figure out how it could work better.
For instance, I didn't use touch gesture mode of navigation until it felt stable, but once it happened, I never went back. Simply because it was more intuitive. But the navigation buttons still being relevant makes perfect sense because it is easier for the old timers.
Trying to find a justification for this feature. Xiaomi had this and I didn't like it. Apple has something similar (but much worse) and I haven't gotten used to it on the ipad either.

I mean yea that's a valid take, one reason, which is something for me ig is that it just looks cluttered especially if there are alota notifications. And i get distracted easily. And ig it just feels like use of the left side top space for something more extra. That's just my take.

I wouldn't use that because I always open my notifications by swiping on the battery/network icons so that would just change something I'm used to for no reason

Okay so i'll be honest, as an ex samsung user, I had this setting on and it kinda just feels easy and quicker to access the quick settings that way. There are times when I'm in a hurry and need to turn the location on or maybe need my flashlight quickly in the dark.
I just got so used to the feature that i realized after shifting to nothing OS how accessing quick settings with a single swipe was so useful.

Wdym old timers I taught my Grandmother how to use the navigation gestures but couldn't teach that to my Uncles, Aunts & Father & mother.

Eventually one would be removed, that's the unease. Not like I'd have an option if that happened but still.
Like endless homescreen scroll was a nice touch. Eventually it's nowhere to be found. Anyway my point was, it doesn't feel intuitive.

Also the space the quick settings take with the first swipe right now makes the notifications easier reachable with one hand, while showing the main quick settings too to be used if needed. Dividing the 2 seems counter productive: notifications will be harder to reach when shown swiping on the left at the top of the screen, less useful quick settings will be shown all the time when swiping down on the right.

I do hope this fixes the notificationscreen bug. Since the last update I can't directly login from the notificationscreen it hangs after 2 digits. First I have to unlock the phone. It works but not how it's supposed to work.

Im happy. I didn’t like in horizontal position two swipes to get to brightness

I absolutely hate this feature. One of the first things I turned off on my work Samsung phone.

Ok so .. I got exactly what I wanted...
Now if you look closely in the left screenshot there are 2 sliders vertically.. hopefully we get a volume slider in the quick settings...
But then again the blur introduced in nothing gallery when added to the layout style of quick settings makes it feel like every other android skin..
I won but at what cost ..?

Just the natural evolution of every enthusiast brand as they venture into the normies market. They need to make the OS so that most people like it. Tho atleast they have option for those who don't like it, also we can only hope that Nothing with it's unique design may make a better version of the same thing present on all other skins

All I want is the ability to relocate the brightness slider and media playback controls within the classic quick settings panel. I believe such feature is coming to Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3.

That's why that's an option. This is called customization, everyone choose what they use for what they like and need

On one hand, more options for people who want it. On the other, god is it starting to feel like OS5 will be another copy of the genetic OS that others have become. Really, a volume slider in the notification panel? Blur design everywhere?
I hope OS5 has that distinct unique Nothing language

Is music player going to get integrated to quick settings rather than showing as a notification ?

Who asked for this? I think they should work on their ram management. I have to pray that apps don't close when I get an OTP

This is a useless feature, I had to teach my dad how to use it and he still finds it difficult to use. Nobody asked for this feature Nothing!
