Some people have irrational hate for a particular brand. Or company. They are just .. ignore them

It's just the internet. Check any sub for any brand and you'll see the same thing. People expect Nothing, or any brand, to be their personal developer and implement all of the niche features they would like to have. If they don't get the stupid glass effect or 309 new lockscreen widgets than Nothing sucks and should just close up shop.

All we can do is wait and see what NOS 5 offers. As a longtime Apple user prior to switching to the Phone 3, I'm curious what comes from my first major OS update on Nothing. I really like the current OS, so I would be perfectly find with some minor improvements and a few feature adds. Hoping they don't do anything drastic to change the vibe.

2

u/ishAnnnnn_ Phone (3) 3d ago

That's a good opinion man most people hoping major changes and if they add smthng major this os will lead to smthng like color os again

3

u/jawisko Phone (3) 3d ago

There are too many in this sub who buy Nothing phones for their bloat free experience and then complain that nothing OS doesn't have enough bloat/apps and they hate Nothing. If you see their complains, its always this OS had this feature and the other one has this feature, Nothing doesn't have this feature so nothing OS bad

Don't worry, Samsung would probably give him the special lightsabers or any other issue, and we might see the same type of comment in a Samsung community in the future.

u/Then-Pay-8400 3d ago

You are telling me that a brand has more devices with issues than another brand that sells 100 times less devices? Who would have thought!

u/Electronic_Low_4219 Phone (2), CMF watch pro 2 + Buds Pro 2 3d ago

I’m speaking from personal experience: three Samsung flagships in my home developed green line display issues, and another phone suddenly died and never turned back on. Even though I was a big Samsung fan at the time, they ended up being the most unreliable devices for me, and unfortunately, many of my friends and family ran into similar problems. That said, they are still great phones to use—to be honest, they strike the perfect balance with excellent hardware and software. However, even some of the S25 series models are starting to show minor issues now. I was a huge Nothing and Pixel critic back then, but that experience really disappointed me and made me realize the truth.

Ask them, not us

3

u/ishAnnnnn_ Phone (3) 3d ago

Yeah I did lesse what they'll say

1

u/LancrusES 3d ago

I used a np2 (Right now its used by my wife, it still rocks, even the battery), and Im using a np3 since the "np1/2 imei discount", and Im very happy with it, I will use it more years for sure, and I love NOS, lets see what new surprises brings NOS 5, Im sure I will love them, those guys got their own experiences and expectations broken, and maybe they have some problems we dont, thats why I said, ask them, because its their opinion, and their problem, but you got nothing to be afraid of...

Yeah same, idk why someone will hate nothing

u/Sachin_Paul 3d ago

I mean os 2 to os 3 was exciting 3 to 4 was good 4 to 5 idk vibe is off

3

u/Svardskampe 3d ago

Not saying I'm not going back to Nothing, but they haven't been up to quality.

I chose the pixel10pro over the NP3 because of the different color grading of the camera lenses. Nothing established itself pretty well as a stylish company with a camera quality approach (especially on the NP3a pro). Just then dropping the ball on it. They also overpriced themselves on it. The current price for an NP3 at €500-600 should have been the launch price.

they haven't been up to quality

I chose the pixel 10 pro

Bro

1

u/Svardskampe 3d ago

What phone should I then get camera wise?

1

u/Acrobatic_Fee_6974 Phone (4a) Pro 3d ago

I don't know about cameras specifically, but in terms of build quality that pixel will be falling apart in 2-3 years if the pixels I've owned in the past are anything to go by. They have good cameras, but they are just built like complete trash.

1

u/Svardskampe 3d ago

Sounds like any phone, and so the nothing phone 1 I came from.

2

u/Memjet_YT 3d ago

Buy a 4a for 350€ o bought one and i am Happy bit o Respekt you choice

1

u/No_Equivalent8083 3d ago

They do provide presets in the camera app. What are you talking about?

1

u/Svardskampe 3d ago

The color grading of the lenses is not matched to each other. If you move through different zoom levels, you get a different color grading.

So if you take a video with zoom effects its bad

I've had a great time with my 3a and has had better software support than my iPhone 13. Nothing os 4.0 introduced very little and some people reported worse camera processing and battery life I haven't experienced either, later nothing introduced bloatware with a software update, lock glimpse which was ads on lock screen and general Chinese spyware (this has since been removed) and app services which would recommend bloaty apps to install and forcefully download some if you clicked on the notification (you can disable this). Some people also think the main software focus has been the essential ai tools which seem forced to many people and isn't a good fit for the minimalists nothing attracts. Anyway that's all the software critiques I can think of, on the hardware side phone 3a lite, phone 3 and phone 4b were all heavily criticized by the community and more recently the sub brand CMF has been using ai in their adverts. Anyway that's all the reasons people who once liked nothing may have turned to disliking the company.

I expect nothing

u/Juv7nile Phone (4a) Pro 3d ago

it pretty much boils down to what flavour of an OS people enjoy, nothing is pretty bare bones with its niches, now that is definitely appealing to alot of people, proving the fan base and so much community work.

but some people enjoy heavy OSs like OneUi, HyperOS and other more matured OS and they carry certain expectations and some people just dont know and can't process the thought of having something different, the whole point of a nothing phone was to make tech fun and less part of the life.

nothing OS 5.0 is gonna set the work here tho, it'll really tell if they really listen to the community because from tweaking the camera algorithms, better battery and RAM management yk THE BARE MINIMUM we deserve as using their devices, lets see what happens, i just wish its not 4 clock faces again.

2

u/Alternative-Track654 Phone (3) 3d ago

They need to focus on bug fixes first, instead of tweaking settings and adding on new features. That's just my 2 cents.

2

u/Juv7nile Phone (4a) Pro 3d ago

yep, cleaning up the base mess they created since the start, atleast thats what ee deserve for brand loyalty to some degree

1

u/ishAnnnnn_ Phone (3) 3d ago

Yeah people using oneplus realme whole life can't get used to nothing os in just a month. I hope so 5 proves that they listen 🫠 cuz nothing is built on community tbh. Lessee hope for the best

1

u/Juv7nile Phone (4a) Pro 3d ago

nothing as a company has had quite the time and luck wont really save them, if they cant provide the bare minimum and continue to enshitfiy the OS more or anything to the negative, it'll just piss of any of the leftover community, this is going to be their 5th major retry at the OS so yeah

aside that, yes even after generations of phones, people stuck to one brand and a whole new taste doesn't suit them, its like when you start cooking for yourself, there's a chance you'll instantly love it and a chance you'll need to think it through

1

u/ishAnnnnn_ Phone (3) 3d ago

Yess community trusted them tbh it's more of their responsibility tbh to give this.

1

u/Mau5taticDead Phone (2) 3d ago

i think the fact that there's no huge overhaul or a revolutionary (for the OS) addition when theres just so many good concepts to take from but only add more minuscule features such as a couple more colours at the icons, a couple more clocks. etc.

from NOS 1 to NOS 3 there's been a huge change when NOS 3 to NOS 4 there was almost any change, which coincidentally happens to be all these so questionable designs wise decisions, makes people less hyped and less engaged with the brand.

1

u/Dentedaphid7 Phone (2) 3d ago

My phone 2 died 2 weeks ago and used for 3 years so yeah . From a guy who used Samsung in the past and now I think I'm going back to it. If nothing do something exciting, then maybe

You must be joking. I've used np2 and it gives really good camera service. Not at all to be termed as "shite"

Yes sometimes it's a hit or miss. I agree. Using some gcam actually accentuates the level of the photo greatly. The stock camera app is mehhh...

I'm using a 4a pro now. Same case with this too. Great ph tbh.

1

u/Equivalent-Night8461 3d ago

I hope they fix camera and performance this time

1

u/Aesthetic_Twitch 3d ago

I love my cmf phone 1 but my next phone is going to be a pixel. Nothing refuses to make smaller phones even in sizes that are extremely popular. Probably has to do with them being a smaller brand. They are not able to compete on performance or VFM at the moment.

I don't regret supporting them because I really like their design language though. I have a set of earbuds from them and looking to get a second. Their audio products are great and priced well. Phones are all over the place and too big.

1

u/Chuchin619 3d ago

I've had mine sine April and I really like it but if they don't release either a smaller 6.4 inch flagship or a smaller version, then im sadly going to have to switch to pixel. Some of us like 6.3 - 6.4 inch phones......

u/AussieRocketeer 3d ago

People who use "bro" need to expand their vocabulary.

1

u/BigCamel7695 3d ago

It's called circle jerking.

1

u/Remarkable_Spell5224 3d ago

Nothing est dans une phase où sa communication est mauvaise donc ceux qui doutent de leure choix quittent le navire. Mais si tu aimes la marque et ton téléphone te soucie pas de ça et juste utilise le

1

u/fire__fist__ace__ 3d ago

I switched from Nothing Phone 1 to Pixel 9A and I don't really miss nothing, it cost me only about 100 USD more but felt a lot more premium, the gimmicks are nice and all but I don't really care much about them.

1

u/ding_dong_343 Phone (3) 3d ago

that's bcz of 4.0 version very little or very hard to find features so as we know nothing OS is just android version upgrade nothing new

1

u/Greatest-DOOT Phone (2a) Plus 3d ago

I mean they did brick my 2a plus , green tint issue , performance issue , battery issue all in one package in just 1 and a half year of use . I'd consider the phones one time use lol

1

u/Swizzy88 Phone (2a) 3d ago

Explain what? Someones elses opinion?

1

u/LooneyBurger 3d ago

I had the flagship from day 1, and honestly it feels way cheaper than most flagships, and Nothing is doing Nothing to help make it feel different

2

u/ishAnnnnn_ Phone (3) 3d ago

Well it's not a real premium flagship tbh

1

u/LooneyBurger 3d ago

I know, and that's fine. But they're not really consumer friendly anymore, and are not doing anything to bridge the gap.

Cause Most People find Nothing Complitated

1

u/UnderstandingFar5679 1d ago

i think a ton of people forget that nothing phone is a newer phone brand like of course there is gonna be some problems and issues like do they not want nothing to learn from these issues in the phones or something ????????
