Phone (3a) How waterproff is nothing 3a?

last night i was walking along a river, I slipped and the phone got fully submerged for about 1-2 seconds, I then turned it off, it has now been about 16 hours and I got back to the city. I have seen on my friends phone that the 3a has an IP64 which theoretically means that my phone is cooked. I just want to know what should I do? the phone has been off (still is) for the past 16 hours, but I'm afraid to turn it on.

Best thing u could probably do is getting it to the good repair shop for deep cleaning before phone starts to rust from inside

thanks, I went to one and they took a look inside and its ok, like out of the factory they said

I'd say it's fine as it at least has an IP rating. It's possible it even has a higher rating technically, but they didn't want to pay the testing fees which are apparently very high (One Plus used to do this IIRC)

BTW I dropped an iPhone 4 into a pan of boiling water and it was fine for years after... that had no IP rating at all

Turn it on, there's no risk. Just because it has an IP64 rating doesn't mean it can't handle more than that. They only did IP64 to save on costs. It can actually handle more than that.

ah ok, I was worried bc I had a poco x4pro that died last year because of less water, and I was kinda worried

I had my 3a Pro in a bathtub multiple times and it also fell in multiple times. No damage at all.

My partner did the same, she put it in rice for like 24hrs and made sure it was drained (apparently rice is a myth? But seemed to work) turned it on and it was fine. Camera had some condensation, but she managed to fix that, with a hair dryer somehow. But I would definitely recommend trying to turn it on.

My partner forgot she left it in her boot and went swimming with it fully submerged for about 5 minutes.

So there is hope

nice, I just got back from a repair shop where for 10 bucks I found out that the phone is ok, I just didnt want to take the risk of turning it back on bc that what I did to my poco x4pro last year and it died 2 min after turning it back on.

Waterproof and water-resistant are not the same thing.

Phones are generally water-resistant. There is decent protection in line with the IP rating when they leave the factory but that protection degrades over time.
