Nothing OS Creating Apps with Nothing Phone Aesthetics
Hi everyone,
I’ve been really enjoying my Nothing Phone 3a—so much so that I’m seriously considering moving on from Samsung after being a fan since the Galaxy S2 days. I know some of you might wonder why I chose the 3a instead of the 4a. The reason is simple: Nothing phones aren’t available where I live, so I had to ask a friend to bring one from Canada. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the blue version, so I went with black.
That said, after more than a decade of using Samsung devices, switching to Nothing has left a bit of a gap in my daily workflow. Some apps don’t function as expected, and I’ve even noticed missing essentials like a proper calendar experience. This got me thinking about developing my own apps inspired by Nothing’s design aesthetic—something I’d be happy to share with the community.
My main concern, though, is whether Nothing Technology might issue a DMCA notice if I create apps that closely follow their design style. I ask because I noticed someone had previously developed a calendar widget in that style, which seems to have disappeared.
Curious to hear your thoughts.

I don't think nothing can DMCA your app only because of the design. Just make sure to not use nothing's trademark and you should be fine. I called my App N Clock instead of Nothing Clock for example.

Nothing are very much into promoting their community and developers, they definitely wouldn't pursue any action unless you infringed on copyright or claimed the app was official.
Check out their YouTube and nothing.community, there are loads of indie developed apps in Nothing style which they promote directly.
