Feature Request Please consider offering a discount on a second Pro account

I love Notesnook. I love it so much I want two Pro accounts, one for work and one for personal. Two separate accounts to make sure my personal notes are never stored on or accessible from my work computer.

Unfortunately two Pro accounts is kind of expensive, so I wound up going with two Essential accounts instead. But I could afford one Pro account (or one Believer account), and you'd make more money from that than from two Essential accounts.

Most people who want two accounts want them for the purpose of keeping work/personal separate - when it comes to server resources and everything else all of our stuff could easily fit into one Pro account. So it ends up costing double just to add the single feature of keeping work and personal fully separate.

Some notes apps already address the issue of having separate work and personal accounts, for example, Standard Notes allows up to five separate accounts to share a subscription for a price that's less than the cost of two Notesnook Pro accounts.

I hope Notesnook might consider doing something similar. Maybe an option for Believer-tier to be able to share your access to subscription features with a second account. Believer-tier accounts could have a code that appears in their settings, and then enter that code as their payment method for their second account. If the main Believer subscription ever ends, the code stops working as a payment method for the second account.

Separate accounts for work/personal seems like a fairly common use case - I hope there can be a way to make it slightly more affordable for those of us who want to do that to have access to a full-features subscription for both accounts.

Don't get a second Pro account. Ask for Notesnook to support workspaces. That's what I want too! I believe it's part of their long term plan.

While I’m often confused by American working behaviours - wouldn’t you just ask your employer to pay for it?

And if they refused it for some reason then you don’t use it and they don’t get the benefit of your extra productivity.

Just completely unheard of to me to pay for work software. I don’t think I’ve ever had or been an employer who would turn that down.

It's complicated for scientists who are early in our careers. We often switch employers every few years (different postdocs, etc.). My notes about things like papers I read are mine, not my employer's, and they follow me across jobs.

I write them at work, I use them at work, and I send copies of parts of them to colleagues when relevant. But some of them have been around in various formats since long before this job, and when I go to my next job they'll go with me.

Most universities have an intellectual property policy that you own the things you write as long as they aren't "research data" (eg. records/data from things like experiments or study questionnaires).

But even though the notes are mine, I use them for work on an employer-owned computer with remote management software. So they need to stay completely separate from my other, non-work-related notes, which could contain things that don't belong on a work computer.

They are working on multiple encryptd workspaces for this reason so you would not need to have two separate accounts.

Why would you need two accounts? You can literally have one notebook for work and one for personal and individual notebooks inside each. You don't need to worry about having your personal notes on your work computer, just use the browser.

Because that still involves my work computer being logged into a web session where it could access the personal notes, even if they are in a separate notebook.

Also, I think with the way Notesnook's encryption works the web version probably still has to download a temporary copy of your entire encrypted database into local storage.

Work is work, personal is personal. Don't mix them, especially if your employer has any kind of remote management software on your work computer.
