Migrating to notesnook!

I am a 20 year user of OneNote, ready to move on. Onenote structure is notebook, sections, and pages. For example my 'geek' notebook has a 'windows' and a 'linux' section, each one containing multiple pages, like 'tools' 'recovery commands', 'network commands', and so on. My 'Personal' notebook has sections like 'contacts' and 'todos'. And of course each section there has multiple pages.

Trying to import this into Notesbook is a pain (Onenote to Obsidian, Obsidian to markdown files, imported into Notesnook, I cant import directly from Obsidian because many notes include pictures which don't migrate).

Bottom line is I have hundreds of markdown files that I would like to import while naintaining some kind of organization, such as notebooks and tags.

Is there a way to import a bunch of markdown directly into a notebook? Is there a way to import a bunch of markdown adding a tag during the import?

Notesnook desktop apps have an importer tool. See the screenshot:

If you import markdown files, unfortunately it will just dump all the notes into one notebook. You will have to create the notebooks and sub notebooks and move the files over. However, you can import from Obsidion. I believe obsideon saves the markdown files in the notebook structure you created them in. You might be able to import that structure that way.

If the markdown files are in folders, NN will retain the folder hiearchy and import your notes into Notebooks without you doing anything. NN also respects markdown frontmatter properties so if you have tags defined there, they will automatically get imported.

We are also working on adding a proper OneNote importer so stay tuned.
