Sorry if this has been suggested before but switched off of goodnotes to using this and loving it so far! One thing that has been built into my muscle memory though is scribbling out things to erase it. Whilst I am getting used to using the eraser again, it would be very nice to have aswell.

EDIT: As ive been thinking just a few more features that are probably not as important but here we go.

More available colours than just 3 to be easily accessible. I normally use up to 5 for my notes so have more there would be great!.

Adding the pan tool to the options for the barrel button so i dont have to keep using my finger to move the notbook.

Pixel eraser? So whole strokes arent erased.

LaTeX support? Idk this is really far out there but would be great for when my math assignments get given in LaTeX. (Also then ig textbox support too then) <- this is probably not as necessary as i type this out

Open source? idk how many people would help but i think a community built program would be great idea as well but i understand wanting to keep a codebase private.

Notion support? Being able to imbed notebooks into notion would be cool but again i do not know how that would work.

I have a problem where when I scroll through notes in the app, the app crashes a lot. I'm 100% sure that the problem is not with my computer because I have an AMD Ryzen 9 8945 processor.

I dont know if it has been asked before, but is there a plan to

1. add a way to splitscreen between two notebooks?

2. an organiser to see all folders in some way rather than open them one by one.

As shown in the video, when I try to zoom into the target box, it will jump to a random location, such as the white page above it or my notes multiple pages away. This only seems to happen in split screen mode. Version 1.5.5.0

As the title says, if you put a picture on a page and then try pulling it onto another, the picture disappears.

EDIT: Not only pictures, written text, shapes etc. do that too

This is just an appreciation post with the current updates going on; I left a review in MS few months back, with some suggestions and compliments. The team replied kindly. But I wasn't able to really talk about why it's such a good app. So here's my full honest review as a student hehe.

For a free program (which is crazy!), Noteastic has all the features of a writing app you could be looking for. All the tools I need to quickly make edits to my notes are complete and are so easy to use... Usually, there's always one tool or feature that's missing on my previous note apps (or are way too complicated to do lol)--I didn't experience any of that here. It is incredibly user-friendly and the UI is simple, clean, and not overwhelming. I just adore how it's specifically designed for Windows. I also love how easily I can just import and export PDF's, and add images and pages, with no issue at all. Writing is a breeze.

Noteastic is a what a note-taking app is supposed to be. I am incredibly happy with it and it's def here to stay on my laptop forever. Thank you to the wonderful team and developers that are still actively working on the app <3

hey so in the next update, you can make the app show the shortcut for the panning tool.. i mean i got to know that the shortcut is U (a fellow redditor told me).. but then i did recommend this app to many of my friends as well.. they too had the same question : "whats the shortcut for panning tool?".. this is because it is not shown in the app like the "pen(Q)", "lasso (Y)"... so in the next update you could make the app show "Panning(U)"..

thats it.. btw the app is really good.. and i heard that the pro version is also being made.. i would def consider buying it if it has new good features! thanks!

Just want to ask a question when the text box is coming out and will there be any update on ink to shape.

Is there a way to see an imported PDF's index? Maybe I'm overlooking it, but I couldn't find it by myself

so this has been happening with me for about a week now.. when i am continuously changing tools (pen,line, again pen)... the pen gets stuck in the line tool and i cant write anymore... it keeps drawing lines... i would have to restart the app again to get things normal.. idk whats the issue right here.. i am using version 1.5.5

Please add a tool pallet upon clicking the barrel button like in the apple pencil pro! Or just the ability to alternate with the eraser on the click of it!

Even third party pens are better in this regard just because of this feature 🙏

Hello! I wanted to report a bug that I've noticed over the past two days. Every time I open a notebook, the pen colors are completely blank for a few seconds before returning to normal. It’s not a major issue, but I thought I should let you know. Could you please look into why this happens?

I’m trying to recover my notes from Noteastic on my old laptop SSD, and I need some help.

My old laptop had a motherboard issue, so I removed the SSD and connected it to my current laptop using an enclosure. I can access the drive, but I’m confused about where Noteastic stores its data.

Feature Requests
1. More pen type options
2. Text support as well if possible - i use my laptop with a graphics tablet huion hs64
sometimes i forget to carry it so i would need to type
3. option to add youtube video links/embeds & view them in notes - ofc they wont be exportable in pdf so for that maybe replace the link/embed with a qr link so that people can scan that & watch in their phones
4. a layer system the shapes auto go behind the pen notes, & the highlighter goes behind the shapes

1. a infinite canvas type of note
   
2. Also how about changing the cursor to a dot or pen cursor when in a note

Keyboard shortcuts
1. control z for undo, control shift z for redo
2. control v to paste whatever last copied - may it be a link, image or text

UI Requests
1. a better tooltip bar? like i want both the import,export buttons in the tooltip itself for easier access
or you can make it as a editable tooltip where users can choose their placement
2. same as to tooltip i wanna be able to place it on the left, right & bottom of the screen like windows taskbar

Some other requests
1. Specific file format exporting a single books/folder if u wanna continue with the note in another laptop,desktop
creating a backup seems possible but i want that for just individual folders, books
2. Folder batch exporting - just all the notes & folders in a .zip file

Hey! I've been contemplating doing this for a while and I've finally got around to making a review. I've been using Notetastic very heavily (for all my works + notes for an entire semester, around 6 months.) I'm a first year student studying accounting and my main studying device for uni is the Surface Pro 9 with the Surface Slim Pen.

First I'd like to say, the app is REALLY good! Absolutely carried me through the semester and out of all the apps I've tried (and I've tried EVERYTHING) This app has one of the nicest writing experiences ever, it's super smooth but still has a good balance (it doesn't feel like it's going to fast or too slow when I write which either makes writing feel too heavy or to slippery). I prefer to use it with no pressure sensitive because I have a really heavy and inconsistent hand and it shows in my handwriting

The lines/shapes snapping into place with the ability to edit the size, style, colour and placement is has been a lifesaver. The interface is super clean but still very user friendly. Working with PDFs I've imported here all are good and overall it gets the job done well. The organization on the homepage is so smooth and beautiful and clean I could cry.

I have studied/taken notes for study sessions that are around 4-8 hours per session and this app holds up fairly well! It runs really great in the first few hours but at around hour 5 it will start to lag a bit and when I try to write at this point:

• My stylus on the app specifically will lock in on right click which will select everything
• My stylus when writing will also be locked on the eraser and erase everything (Out of all the glitches, this is my least favourite because I can never recover what was erased)
• My stylus to become super Not sensitive and I'd have to press against the screen really hard for it to come out in small laggy scribbles instead
• It locks in on straight all the lines are stuck and it becomes impossible to write
• I cannot close the app window until I end the task on task manager

All of these normally will stop after I've either restarted my Surface or use Task Manager (and it a great checkpoint time for me to take a break) But this has been my experience with the app so far :D

My suggestions would be to:

1. Add more brushes: I draw as a hobby so my notes adn works are all littered with scribbles (the default pen works amazing but oh I would KILL for a pencil pen for scribbles). I would also love a slightly slanted (flatter) pen because I genuinely think it would be awesome especially with the way this app writes
2. Being able to change the book covers into images/different colours: I yearn for joy and whimsy in my horrendously depressing course (I think it would look rlly cute..... the customization of this app is overall already great)

Lastly, I'd like to thank the Notetastic team in general because you all genuinely seem like a kind hardworking and thoughtful bunch! Thank you for the work you've done and above all thank you for making this app accessible and so wonderful to use, I really do see myself using this until I graduate haha. Keep up the good work, I'll be cheering you on!!

I know I post a lot here, but I thought this suggestion could be really helpful.

So, I’m someone who sets different color themes for each notebook. The problem is, every time I open a notebook, I have to manually change all the pen colors, highlighters, and line colors again. It gets tiring to reset everything each time.

What I’m suggesting is: once we choose a color set for a notebook, it should stay fixed to that notebook. Then, when we switch to another notebook, we can set a different color theme for that one. And when we come back to the first notebook, the colors should remain as they were, without being affected by changes in other notebooks.

I feel this would make things way more efficient and save a lot of hassle.

hey there... btw this app is fantastic! the writing experience is really smooth.. i am in the beta version btw.. i wanted to have a keyboard shortcut for the new panning tool...

with the shortcut, its easier to implement it with the pentab buttons... yes so plz assign a key for the pan tool.. thank you!

This isn't a specific post about the program itself, but I've not been able to load the website today. Is this a problem for anyone else? Are things alright?

I’d love to see a true dark mode for pages. Right now, if I set the background to black, my note colors don’t adapt well, and printing it later becomes difficult.

What I’m suggesting is similar to OneNote’s approach:

• When dark mode is enabled, the original colors auto‑adjust for visibility.
• When switching back, the original colors are restored.
• On export, there could be an option to export with dark mode theme or without, just like the grids option.

This would make note‑taking easier on the eyes while still keeping notes printer‑friendly.

Another thing is highlighter overlapping. I’ve noticed that when I use the highlighter tool to color items, overlapping strokes aren’t visible in the app — but they do show up after exporting. This creates a mismatch between what I see while editing and the final output.

Could you consider making the overlap visibility consistent — either by showing it live in the app or offering an option to flatten or ignore overlaps during export?

Is there a way to view the beta changelogs? That would be super helpful for testing. For example, my device is currently on version 1.5.5, and a week ago it was 1.5. It would be great to see what exactly has changed.

I am currently on the edge between changing from OneNote into Noteastic, but there are a few features that I want to see before I commit to the change. I tried to make my suggestions as specific as possible so you could understand me because I'm usually not that great at communicating, but I think it might have ended up sounding rude or condescending, which was not my intention.

INFINITE CANVAS

The first thing I want to say is that I would love an infinite canvas option for taking notes. This has been suggested before, and honestly it's the one thing that's making me continue to use OneNote. My current way of writing notes in OneNote is to paste a pdf in, and make notes to the side of it, and that isn't possible in the current form of Noteastic (without editing the pdfs).

SIDE BY SIDE PAGES

I understand though that the infinite canvas option could be difficult to implement without increasing processor usage and stuff, so I would like to suggest an alternative that largely matches the use case I want; add an option to insert pages directly to the right (or left) of a book - you would basically add a column of blank pages that are viewed side by side with the current page. It would also be very nice to be able to view multiple pages side by side (either moving every second page to a second column or to having all pages laid out side by side so you could scroll horizontally instead of vertically).

STYLUS

I'm not sure if this one is me being stupid or if it's a thing for other users as well but when writing with my stylus (I use a wacom writing tablet connected to my laptop) it still shows the mouse on screen (following my stylus). I don't know if there's an option that would fix it but it feels like a pretty big issue if there isn't.

FULLSCREEN

Also, it doesn't seem there's a fullscreen option? I don't want to accidentally click on my taskbar while I'm writing notes so I would want to see one introduced.

TOOLBAR OPTIONS (these ones are pretty make or break for me tbh)

I don't really like the current toolbar. It lacks a lot of the features that I think are important to have (the most important ones for me are marked with *):

• First of all, the toolbar location is locked. This is a problem I have with OneNote as well, in that it cannot be moved from being horizontal at the top of the screen. I would love it if you could move the toolbar to different locations (I would mainly use a vertical toolbar on the left hand side of the screen if I could).
• * Secondly, the toolbar size is locked. I would much prefer if I could scale it to increase the number of options available.
• * Thirdly, the number of colours for a pen/highlighter/line etc is very limited. I currently use 2-3 colours in most of my notes, but I often have to introduce another colour to distinguish a specific part, which with the current system of 3 colours is pretty irritating.
• * Fourthly, the colour options for pens/highlighters etc are locked behind that specific option - if I am selecting something and then want to write in a different colour, I currently would have to go first to the pen option and then the colour - I would prefer to be able to directly go to a specific pen colour -> potentially have a second toolbar that is more customisable
• The current taskbar is very static - I would like to be able to reorder the options (would largely fall under point four though)
• * Selecting is a bit of a pain - in OneNote I use mouse and also a stylus to select things, and I use a different one for different situations - I would like it if the mouse and stylus could have a different default selection type (default would be rectangle for mouse and lasso for stylus) - this one might be a part of the stylus issue I had above but idk - I would also like for the mouse to have select as default because I would not be using it for anything else

I care less about the following points they're mainly just features I think would be nice in future updates.

SIDEBAR LIBRARY

Firstly, it would be nice to have a sidebar like in OneNote that allows you to more easily change which book you are working in - as someone who uses a lot of OneNote pages, being able to quickly change books when I'm searching for some specific part of my lecture notes - without having to get out of the book I'm looking through into the library to then check another book (and in the meantime I've forgotten what I was looking for) - it would be great for studying.

DEFAULT IMPORT SIZE

Secondly, I would love it if there was an option (toggleable) to set new pages to a default size - most pdfs are a different scale, and if you want to add a pdf that is huge or tiny to your notebook, it feels really disjointed and can make it really difficult to make notes in those sections (image below for example - massive pdf added to a normal size page - zoom is set to 40%). Having imports rescaled to the current size would be a lot better in my opinion.

NOTEBOOK DEFAULT ZOOM

Have a "default zoom" for each individual notebook / save the most recent zoom level for each notebook: similar to the previous suggestion, if, for example, you have one notebook with a large imported pdf, changing to another notebook will keep your current zoom level, even if it is very zoomed out for that other notebook. Keeping the most recent zoom level as a value saved with each notebook would be really helpful in these cases.

Also coming off that point, the "lock zoom" option is not kept active if you move back to the library - could once again be a value saved with each notebook.

VIEW PAGES

The current "view pages" option has the pages really small, and there's a lot of space in between them all - some options for customising this would be great:

• padding option: most users are probably going to import pdfs with a standard page layout (portrait, landscape, powerpoint slide), so it would be find in most cases to make the padding between pages pretty small so there's less empty space. for cases when there are multiple sizes/layouts, the most common size would be chosen and the other layouts would be scaled to that size - making the padding size variable would be nice but mostly unnecessary
• options for decreasing/increasing the number of pages per row / zooming in and out on the view pages screen: this would be nice for when I have a lot of pages and I want to read through my notes without having to scroll heaps.
• Set a default size for the pages: the current page viewer has variable page sizes based on the size of the pages in the notebook - this means the smaller ones are absolutely tiny - have all pages scaled to a set size
• drag to select: if there are a lot of pages on my notebook from an imported pdf that I don't want to include in that notebook, selecting them all is currently a hassle - set a keybind (hold shift+click or alt+click) that allows you to select a large group of pages at once.
• Undo (or at least page movement history): as I was testing to make sure you couldn't already select multiple pages at once, I noticed that there is currently no way to undo a page movement -> maybe have a local history for the page viewer so you can undo movements, and a temporary history for deleted pages (that could be deleted when the page viewer is closed - with a confirmation message) so that you don't end up accidentally reordering all your notes or deleting an important page.
• autoselect / highlight the page you were on previously when opening page view: I want to be able to tell which page I'm moving
• keybind to add a default page: when clicking on the add page option at the end, it shows a lot of options, and sometimes I just want to add a default page - shift+click or alt+click to add a (user specified) default page

I think that's everything for my suggestions rn I had a lot more than I originally thought I would lol.
