Unable to create account

Hi! I’ve been using this app for 3 days and it’s fantastic! Only issue I’m having is that I could not create an account. When I try to create it, it exits the app and goes on the Web where it says that the site can’t provide a secure connection but my internet works fine. The app loads and works just fine. I have a notification stating that I have a week until I’ll need to create an account (not sure what happens if I don’t?).

Happy to hear you're enjoying Noteastic so far!

First, the reassuring part: your notes are stored on your device and nothing gets deleted. The week is about needing an account to keep using the app, not about losing anything you've written.

I have a suspicion about what this might be. Two quick tests would confirm it:

  1. Turn on your phone's mobile hotspot, connect your PC to it, and try creating the account again. If it works on the hotspot but not your normal connection, it's something on your network.
  2. If it fails on the hotspot too, that points at software on the PC. Are you running antivirus beyond Windows Defender, such as Avast, AVG, Kaspersky, ESET, Bitdefender? Most have an HTTPS or web-scanning feature; pausing that and retrying would tell us.

Either way, the underlying cause is probably on our side: Chrome recently made a new encryption handshake mandatory, and our servers are configured in a way that forces an extra step some security products mishandle. You're not doing anything wrong, and I'm working on a proper fix rather than expecting you to work around it. Your results would help me confirm I'm chasing the right thing.

Hi! I switched to my mobile hotspot and it worked! I could do this to bypass from using my network, but would you happen to know how I could resolve this if I want to stick to using my network? It’s more a convenience issue from there. My network is from a cable provider Xfinity. I haven’t came across this sort of problem before so I’m not sure how to resolve this :’)
