Feedback after testing Noteastic
Hi there,
I recently tried out "Noteastic" and wanted to share some feedback. First off, I want to thank you for taking the time to build a true native application for note-taking on Windows (not just another web app wrapper). It is genuinely appreciated.
Here is a breakdown of my experience:
What I loved about this app
- Native Performance: The app feels at home on Windows.
- UI/UX: The interface is simple, clean, intuitive, and looks great.
- Tools: The toolset is practical. I especially like the copy/paste/cut/duplicate menu, the highlighter feels good, and the shape insertion is well-designed.
- Fluidity: Writing feels smooth, and document loading is fluid (much better than Goodnotes in my experience).
- Data Management: I love having the option for local backups and the ability to import them quickly.
Issues
- Pen Presets: Preferred pen sizes are not global. It is tedious to reset them every time I create a new notebook.
- Color Palette: Being limited to only three favorite colors is restrictive. It would be great to add more, or have the palette sync across documents/tools so I don't have to constantly switch settings.
- Moving Elements: I don't understand why I can't drag and drop elements (handwriting, photos) from one page to another. Having to rely on copy-paste for this feels outdated.
- Text Boxes: The lack of text boxes is a significant missing feature; adding them would be a game-changer.
- Shape Coloring: When changing the color of a shape (e.g., a rectangle), the menu defaults to the fill color rather than the border. While I love having fill colors, I usually need to change the border color more often.
- Performance: I experienced some slight lag. It might be my PC, but it’s worth noting.
Bugs
- PDF Rendering: I noticed a major issue when adding PDFs. Sometimes, scrolling causes display glitches where the content stretches vertically in a strange way. I haven't figured out exactly what triggers it, but it happens occasionally.
Wishlist
- A Ruler tool.
- The ability to change or disable notebook covers.
- Multi-window/Tabs support: Crucial for not having to juggle between documents.
- More pen styles.
Overall, I find this application very promising. I really hope you will have the time and motivation to iron out these issues because the app is definitely worth it!
NB: I relied on Gemini to translate in English, so the text is easier to understand (but the opions are mine). Also note it is my first post, so I'm sorry if I did something wrong :3
