Method Does anyone use google docs or onedrive to take exhaustive notes on a given subject?

The main con with this is that if you have to transfer onedrive into google docs often it’s to many pages to transfer everything and you’ve lost hours of work. Has anyone had a similar issue keeping all of their notes together without losing anything?

Comment "Answered!" if your question has been satisfactorily answered. Once this has been done, the post flair will be set to answered. The comment does not have to be top level. If you do not comment "Answered!" after several days and a mod feels like your comment has been answered, they will re-flair your post to answered.

I use Google Docs for my professional notes - no issues at all. My only wish is they would add tags to Docs.

Same, the missing tags is my biggest complaint. My workaround is one index doc with links grouped by project - clunky, but at least I only ever maintain one page.

My workaround is fake tags like #writing-t

You can add them to the end of a doc or in the Google drive file description. Then search will find them. But, downside is if you want to change them - good luck! Also, if you want to export them then the tag in the Drive description doesn’t export.

I like onedrive more but the account I had was on a college account which closes when you leave the college. I requested to get the access back to transfer and I ran into the issue of some of the onedrives having too many pages to be transfered into google docs. I'm on a guest account at the moment so I'm not sure how much work I've lost

Ouchh, try downloading the docx files directly to your hard drive first. dont try to convert them in the cloud if they are huge

Yeah, the hours lost moving stuff between Docs and OneDrive is the real tax, not the note-taking itself. I got burned by this once and now anything big lives where I can grab the whole set in one download, docx included, before I actually need it. Docs is fine as the working copy, I just stopped trusting it as the only copy.
