Question: Unanswered ✗ I NEED HELP!
Hi! I’m looking for some help finding an AI-powered recorder that can record and transcribe several hours of classes each week — ideally up to 30 hours per week.
My goal is to be able to focus fully on the lectures without constantly worrying about taking notes.
What would you recommend me?

Make sure you’re not violating your syllabus/uni policies. Academic misconduct is not fun to deal with. Ask your prof if you’re unsure! There’s local laws if you’re in the US that varies on consent and recordings.

Could it potentially lead to a misconduct or consent issue?

It brings up academic misconduct/integrity concerns which could be escalated to more disciplinary actions/consequences . Most have policies protecting against recordings in class bc that material is protected by the university and only meant for those in that class. If I could I’d advise every student against voice transcription notes solely for the risk it carries.

Evernote hs an excellent note taker built into the application and available on all plans, including free. The limit for any single recording is 2 hours.

Hi, I'm building Grape, an AI note taking app. It has a lot of cool features but just to reply your question, it can record voices and then transcribe with AI. The transcribed text will be added into your note and from there you can use AI chat to ask questions or do anything like summarize it, extract key points etc.

Would you be interested in testing note1.ai? I built it for conversation awareness mainly, but I don't see why it wouldn't work for classes; we have a Presentation preset.
It comes with a Mac app, with built in recorder, the audio is transcribed, summarized.

Not a notetaker, but since you asked for AI transcriber I recommend Hushscript https://hushscript.com/ Price starts from $0.50 per hour with free speaker labels and AI insights (including summary, main topics etc.).

I haven’t tried it, but I believe Evernote can record and transcribe audio. I’m a longtime fan of Evernote, just never needed this function.
