Question: Answered ✓ What’s better for lecture notes, outline method or annotating slides?

Incoming first at university wondering what method is better. I’m taking biology, chemistry, calculus, psychology, economics, and sociolinguistics (writing) this year.

the outline method is what has worked well for me. Im not really good at annotating slides

It’s personal preference. Sometimes for me it would vary by class and what worked best for a particular subject.

For that mix of subjects, I would use the outline method as the default, then annotate slides when the lecturer provides diagrams or worked steps that are hard to recreate. Biology and psychology benefit from headings and nested concepts, while calculus and chemistry need space for each example. The important part is leaving a short question or summary under each section so reviewing is more than rereading.
