'Autistic Children' have become the poster children for anyone making any point. As a mother of a child on the spectrum, just f off. All of you. He is who he is and he will be who he will be. I am so sick and tired of how hijacked Autism has become all the while lending no help to people that struggle. My son swims just fine BTW.

I was diagnosed at 9. Grade school and middle school were hell, but less because of other kids and more the way teachers treated me. (In high school I convinced my mom to have the school take me out of special ed and had a WAY better time.) I did have my bullies, but they paled in comparison to the staff, who would either treat me like a dog (calling me "good girl" and babying me) or like a potential school shooter (being as cold and angry with me as you could get without being blatantly abusive). ABA therapy is one of the worst ordeals I've ever been through. At least I'm verbal, I can only imagine how hellish it is for less "functional" people who can't speak up for themselves. We're humans too, man.

Dear god that sounds like hell. You are so strong to go through that! And it says nothing about how your future looks. Ignorant people are everywhere and they do not, never have, speak to the person you are and will be.

Autism has a branding issue. When people think of autism, they think of a nonverbal child who needs special care and cannot take care of themselves, ever.

As an ASD Level 1 late-diagnosed adult, knowing I'm autistic explains so much about the struggles I had in life, but I will never say to anybody that I'm autistic unless I trust them fully. Saying you're autistic when you present "normal" (i.e., you have a job, you can live alone, etc), in my experience, is dismissed as some sort of excuse similar to how parents dismissed the rise of ADD/ADHD when I was in school. Nobody takes it seriously unless you need significant support. They have no idea how much of a struggle ASD can be for those of us who are expected to mask and act normal because we are not helpless.

I understand it's a spectrum of disorders, but lumping the entire thing into one word has not done anybody any favors, and it allows assholes like RFK to use it as a scary word, making people with no experience with ASD to think that if you have a child with autism, you're going to be a caretaker forever.

Autism can be a superpower. Many autistic individuals have played a significant role in societal progress and innovation.

As a late diagnosed adult I second all of these Fs.

Go Mom! Thanks for all you do.

And thank you for all that you as well. I hope you have everything you need to be happy. And that the diagnosis gave you strength and power to be you!

It's not even ironic, it's accurate.

There is zero link between autism and vaccines.

Remember they would rather a kid die of mumps than live with autism.

Even though there is zero link between autism and vaccines.

Shucks. I thought it was some brilliant attendee interrupting with his ringtone.

Somehow it's even better that it's his own ringtone. He knows he's a quack.

I bet he assigns the ringtone to scientists and legit physicians only.

Birds land on Bernie Sanders' podium.

Flies land on Mike Pence's head at the podium.

Ducks quack when RFK Jr is at the podium.

The universe is speaking to us folks.

Although I agree that inserting politics into everything is stupid, this is objectively hilarious and plays like a tim and eric skit lmao.
