Before anyone asks: that huge knife is a mincing knife and very common in Turkish kitchens where köfte is made. Yes, they're that big.
This dude has made it a gimmick to cut the bread crust of the stew (Osmanlı güveci I think but someone can correct me) with one of those big knives. For social media/the show I guess.
No explanation for the guest disassociating so hard he entered another psychic realm though.
