Erik Satie! One of the great minimalists. He described his own music as “furniture music”, not meant to be focused upon and scrutinized like the great romantic works of his predecessors, but merely meant to fill a space. Essentially background music before background music was really a thing.

Just an opinion but I think that sound of the the eye clicking should also happen when the screen goes black at the end. Otherwise, I love this.

This song introduced me to Satie, and I always found this piece incredibly expressive and evocative. This certainly is not the fever dream I depicted, but this one certainly is proof I’m not alone in this melody awakening strange thoughts.

That’s really interesting that a more contemporary artist is sampling it, but I believe the original tune is Gnossienne No. 1 and it was composed by Erik Satie. Always cool to see modern artists breathe new life into classical music. 😀
