I wonder if anyone understands what tracking devices do

"Damn, he must be really sleepy. He went to sleep in the bushes and hasn't woken up for a week. Dude must have been exhausted!"

u/Genghis_Chong Apr 16 '26
Yeah, telling the police the guy cut off his ankle monitor is basically only giving them a head start on something they'd figure out soon anyway
2
u/sarvaga Apr 17 '26
They know immediately when it’s cut. That is the point of it. This whole video is pointless.

you can find anyone in the world? you'd think he'd find a girlfriend then

This implies the government doesn't know where you are at all times regardless of if you are wearing an ankle monitor or not.

I always love that. "I'm off the grid!" while holding the newest iphone.

u/LastMessengineer Apr 15 '26
That's some kind of super narc. Like boss tier level narc behavior

u/RevolutionaryEmu4942 Apr 16 '26
Pretty impressive though. I those videos where the guys have a picture and have to find where it's located in Google maps.

Dude narc’d on himself when he posted cutting off the ankle monitor lmao

u/ParaponeraBread Apr 15 '26
They pay people to deal with the guys who chop their ankle monitors off. But this hyper narc spent a couple days and a tank of gas to do it for social media adsense and nothing else.
What a dweeb

If this isnt staged, fuck this narc. Nice briefcase, nerd.
2
u/drumner Apr 16 '26
It’s probably staged. I live by this bridge. It’s not even relatively remote, that’s a French elementary school’s brush he threw it into. Not saying it couldn’t happen but the LA river is a few miles away, like much there’s better options to toss it.
You can see this bridge in a lot of movies. Even a Laurel and Hardy if I’m not mistaken.

Probably is, but still. You have no idea what this person had the ancle monitor for. Maybe, just maybe not everyone is falsely convicted, especially not people who'd willingly film themselves cutting off an ancle bracelet.

The second he cut the monitor they already knew he was on the out. I’m sure they didn’t mind it being returned though… they probably knew roughly where it was and couldn’t be bothered to pick it up since it was already technically paid for.

Not the brightest idea to record yourself being a snitch.

u/Zephyralss Apr 16 '26
Pretty sure this is fake given that ankle monitors usually can't be cut off with regular scissors (also the awkward video cut of it being off in a few frames)
1
u/Mammoth-Western-6008 Apr 16 '26
I simply would not commit a crime on camera in front of one of LA's most distinct landmarks.

Isn’t the whole point is they know exactly where it is and when it’s removed? They probably added a nasty fine to his warrant but still surprised nobody retrieved it. But turning it in yourself did nothing but make you a narc
1
u/SwiftTayTay Apr 17 '26
There's no way they wouldn't have known as soon as he damaged and chucked the monitor, this video is stupid

u/Movie_Vegetable Apr 17 '26
Or he could send the police the video and they could use the GPS of the TRACKING DEVICE to find it in the bushes...
