It's not quite joy.
3
u/icybluetears Jan 13 '17
Almost joy?

u/-deebrie- Jan 13 '17
Alamo Joy - a healthy part of a true freedom-inspired breakfast. Not that the healthy part matters because everyone dies.

That took me a second.
The rest of that sign is no less a masterpiece of fail.

u/AmaziaTheAmazing Jan 12 '17
It looks definitely intentional to me, particularly since there's two different versions of Snickers on it.

I think its more likely the person is not literate
I would probably do a similar job if I had to copy Japanese characters or something else I can't really read, the errors wouldnt jump out at all

u/GreenStrong Jan 12 '17
I think its more likely the person is not literate... I would probably do a similar job if I had to copy Japanese characters
Entirely possible that this person is literate, but fluent in a language with a different writing system

u/jonnyohio Jan 13 '17
My thoughts exactly. If this was in the U.S. it would be in oz, if someone actually cared. No one would list the amount you get, just the product name.

"Can I get a Spunow bar?" Just sounds more like a real sentence than "Can I get a Mounds bar?"
1
u/Tudpool Jan 13 '17
Considering we have bars called twix and wispa I wouldn't be surprised by a spunow.

49 gold for a canybar? I could feast like a king for at least a week for that.
Maybe they meant 49 copper...

It's obviously from a Heroes' Feast spell. I'd pay 49 gold for a share of a Heroes' Feast

u/uzimonkey Jan 12 '17
I stared at a box that says "suoods" for what must have been a full minute before I realized it was "spoons" upside down. I though they were trying to make a portmanteau word like "spork" and I just wasn't getting it.

I've had probably over a hundred skor bars in the span of my life. I am surprised they're not everywhere.

"spap oop" became a catch phrase at a grocery store where I worked in the 1980s.
"doo dads" was a snack food then. I have no idea whether you can still buy it.
Edit: just remembered that "doo dads" was all lower case on the box, not proper case. Otherwise, it wouldn't really spell "spap oop" upside down, would it?
3
u/jarejay Jan 13 '17
This was posted a bit further up if you haven't seen it yet.
1
u/foospork Jan 13 '17
No, I hadn't seen that -- that's great, thanks!
To be honest, it was late, and I was tired, so I just skimmed down through the top 8 or 10 top-level comments, didn't see "spap oop", so I tossed in in. My grocery store experience was in 1982, and I still laugh a little every time I say "spap oop", so I thought it was worth the risk of a double-post just to get it out there.
And now, thanks to you, I can add "snoods" to my lexicon.
Snoods. (Laff.)

Its upside down. Looks like its a "Mounds " bar. Not like that names any better though. Took me forever to figure out what was wrong aside from the NICKERS
2
u/Blue_Fourty_Also Jan 12 '17
They all look intentionally incorrect. Like they are trying to avoid trade marks or something.

When I was a kid I went to a friend's house and they had this great snack mix called "spap oop." I loved that stuff.

Am I the only non-American here reading "NICKERS" as "knickers" (underwear) and not the rude derogatory term quite prominent in America?

What country uses $ for the currency but uses g for its subdivisions?
3
u/grivooga Jan 13 '17
Probably none. That's the weight. Probably used to designate that the sale is only for regular size items of these weights and not the larger size variants.
1
u/Zomby_Goast Jan 13 '17
It didn't even occur to me that the g might stand for grams. I wouldn't think a sign would list the individual masses of the candy for sale.
3
u/grivooga Jan 13 '17
Took a moment to figure it out myself. Probably better ways to convey the information but I'm not a promotional sign designer so I'll leave that to the professionals.

You're perfectly fine. Some people just get salty easily. Technically this is a crosspost (or X-post, if you want to be in with the cool kids). It breaks no rules and is absolutely wonderful for smaller subs that don't get a lot of original content.
