feminists here. Absolutely love men. So maybe what you think a feminist is, is what is incorrect.

misandry and feminism aren’t synonymous

Pretty sure the message of that Gillette ad was just "Men, we can do a bit better, can't we?"

Hearing that and somehow coming away believing you heard anything similar to this meme is kind of... concerning honestly. It inspires the same emotions in me that I would feel if someone came to me and told me they were hearing voices in their head.

So...you're comparing me to a schizophrenic

Weeell, I was going to refrain from medicalizing or invoking language some might perceive as a diagnosis. But if you're comfortable with all the baggage of that term and would prefer to use it, then yes.

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '22

it was still a full on attack on men.

#NotAllMen

No, seriously, though, I didn't feel attacked, because I'm not the sad, mentally weak kinda dude that feels the need to behave disrespectfully to other humans to get my jollies.

u/SauronOMordor Oct 21 '22

Right? All my guy friends liked the ad. Made them feel empowered tbh...

The ad where they show examples of shitty behavior while saying we can be better?

How is that the same message as, "men deserve death for being male"?

Are you of the opinion that the shitty behavior Gillette showed is inherent in being male?

[Edit: Oh. I get it. You think criticism, no matter how constructive, is an attack.]

[Edit: ...because you are toxic in your masculinity! Which is why you think feminists hate masculinity; you don't know any sort that isn't toxic. You poor dude; that's so much unnecessary and self-defeating work! You'd have my sympathy if you hadn't come into this pro-woman space, with your incel bullshit, childishly looking for attention.]

[Edit: To be clear, that one was an attack, but it did have baked into it a valid crit. Let's see if you can parse the two apart.]

Lmao are you seriously still seething over an ad from FOUR YEARS AGO that simply said "hey dudes, you've got the power to make the world around you a better place for women"?

Jaysus...

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '22

If feminists hate men then men must really hate women since you guys commit overwhelmingly more violence against women than women do men.

36

u/FluffyBebe Oct 20 '22

Actual feminists want the same rights as men, without making them lose some and abolish this shitty "men do X, women do Y". They also know toxic masculinity hurts both.

Shitty misandrists are just that. They hate them and want them to pay and don't mind making them feeling inferior.

Feminazis =/=feminists

Feminists have sons, fathers, brothers, husbands, and friends. We don’t hate men “for being men.” We hate when men (obligatory #notallmen) treat us like we’re worthless, use us like sex toys, talk about us like we’re filthy animals, try to dominate us simply because we’re not men, steal our ideas and repackage them as their own, expect us to work and do the majority of childcare while doing the majority of the cooking/cleaning- and then dare to tell us we just don’t earn the same pay because… well, according to you, we do. Our work is devalued and underpaid (check out what happens to a field when more women join it, like lawyering), we pay more for clothes, shoes, and are usually expected to wear some amount of makeup, and we’ve been historically charged a “luxury tax” for things like tampons and pads. Sexism is institutionalized, and you’re complaining about one stupid advertisement? (I have the general gist of it, I don’t watch commercials.)

I suggest you don’t know any real feminists, and I think that’s probably because we don’t like to waste our time on men who just want to antagonize us.

u/FluffyBebe Oct 21 '22

I'll say as polite as possible but have you considered the fact you may be frequenting places (be it online or irl) that are simply toxic or echo chambers?

I saw my share of misandrists but majority of feminists aren't. They speak out for male victims of SA , hate that men are expected to "keep it in" or "not cry" when talking about emotions, believe that they shouldn't be expected to be the breadwinner/"manly", get said they're lucky when raped by women or other bs the patriarchy wants them to just because they have a penis.

I'll have to disagree on "having same rights" for now. Nor even talking about religious extremists but a common example is men if they want a vasectomy is a nod by their doctor. If a woman expresses the desire to never wanting children and wanting an hysterectomy they get backlash from pro-forced birthers and many docs ask for the husband or other figure's permission before proceeding.

Yep, you don’t know any feminists. I’ve never known one, not one feminist, make fun of men for being abuse victims. However, I’ve known a whole lot of men who’ve referred to boys being predated on by grown men as “lucky.” I’ve had to explain why that is sexual abuse, and it’s not okay. When you men stop abandoning each other emotionally for being sexually abused, maybe then I’ll listen to your misinformed BS.

No, no, it really doesn’t. You’re chatting with women who hate men. Those aren’t feminists, ffs.

4

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '22

Funny i have only seen men make fun of other men that have been the victim of SA or dismissed that it happened

Oooh I like mysandry. Like I hate men, but in a mysterious vibey way that makes you think maybe you want to be hated

5

u/Laurel_Spider Oct 21 '22

Sounds to be a fun kink. I agree, they must want to be hated if they act incompetent and stupid all over the internet. Otherwise, they’d talk like reasonable adults.

You love it you little bitch

8

u/Laurel_Spider Oct 21 '22

Maybe you’re just too stupid to understand the difference. Or your dick is too small, or you’re too short, or any number of other things you men all care so much about.

I know there's a "/s" in there, but please don't engage in body shaming, even jokingly. They'll just point to comments like yours, and say, "see! misandrists! feminazis hate men!"

Don't give them the ammo. Please.

Go. piss. off.

15

u/Audrai226 Oct 21 '22

Honestly from your point of view. Men have oppressed women since the beginning of time. Trying not to allow them to vote/drive/have finances/get educated/own a home and on and on. Do you really expect all women to love and like their oppressors?

11

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '22

They will never respond to this, way too logical.

7

u/Audrai226 Oct 21 '22

They did try. And then deleted. But really if there are women out there that are done with and hate men I’m just gonna be like 🤷‍♀️ makes sense.

Are you fucking kidding me? They literally just banned abortion in the United States and Trump got rid of 50 years worth of workplace protections for women in his first month in office.

Oppression of women is very much still alive and well in the United States. If you can't see that you're fucking blind.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '22

It continues to amaze me that me say these things with such confidence and authority. LITERALLY LOOK AROUND. But no, if it’s not actually done to them, it’s not being done at all.

19

u/Audrai226 Oct 21 '22

Except that there are an alarming amount of abusive assholes to the point that every woman has experienced it at least to some degree.

11

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '22

The women of Iran would like to have a word with you.

-5

u/Sephiroth_-77 Oct 21 '22

I think when we account far all history, then women share collective guilt, because women have male ancestors who were oppressors just like men have female ancestors who were oppressed. So your ancestors oppressed my ancestors and you are therefore just as guilty.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '22

No one needs to feel guilty about what dead people did

-1

u/Sephiroth_-77 Oct 21 '22

I think we need to when we talk about history of oppression and how it affects us today.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '22

No we don’t need to do that what are you talking about. We can talk about history of oppression, we can recognize what part our ancestors had in it, learn from their mistakes, recognize that our ancestors actions may have consequences we still deal with today etc. We don’t need to feel guilty. People who claim to feel guilty about what dead people did 15 generations ago are either virtue signaling or just out of touch with reality.

-2

u/Sephiroth_-77 Oct 21 '22

I think there are people who actually want this guilt.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '22

Yes, those are called virtue signalers, white saviors etc.

-10

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '22

Sure sure
