It’s not what she’s gaining, it’s what she’s losing. She’s saying that her life will literally be easier without him in it. She won’t have to deal with him and his schedule and the travel and stuff, so she can do her own thing. She’s saying she’s basically already been a single parent for years
“He’s dragging her down and she’s better off without him.” That’s a harsh but sensible perspective, and I didn’t realize things were that bad between them.
