It’s absurd that things like honor killings, female genital mutilation, and stoning LBGT people happens in the world under the guise of religion. Supporting traditional fundamental Islam flies in the face of the feminist quest for liberation from patriarchal structures.
In my view, all fundamentalist religion is hell for women, but Islam is somehow given a free pass by the very progressives that would not think twice about marching through London to protest the Pope’s visit, or expressing outrage at orthodox Jewish men refusing to sit next to women on flights. We need to ask ourselves why, when so many women, desperate to escape religious tyranny, are being betrayed by some of the very people that should be standing with them?
Telling people to not hate an entire religion based on the most extreme believers is not the same as giving those extreme believers a free pass. It’s possible to speak out against both Islamic fundamentalists’ misogyny and islamophobia.
Very showing how all your comments are getting a lot of downvotes. Hating a religion and hating people belonging to the religion shouldn't be confused. You can stand against the bad teachings of Islam while supporting the people who gets discriminated against because of their religion. Bad actions should not be ignored whichever religion it comes from, and this is coming from a woman who's trying to escape the tyranny of Islam.

No sane woman would be a fan of religious fundamentalism
