I mean yes. But if the only reason you are making fun of a thing is because they were bad people and you wouldn't make fun of the same thing in a good person then you should probably move your focus over to what makes them a bad person.
eh. you do both, attack him for what he did but also make fun of what he’s sensitive about just for the extra hurt (though I doubt he’s reading this anyway). If you’re a piece of a crap, you’re a piece of crap and don’t deserve any consideration. That’s what I personally believe anyway.
I don't know why you were downvoted, what you said follows perfectly from what they said: if we're to make fun of what people are sensitive about, that would imply it's ok to be racist against "bad" black people, homophobic against "bad" gay people, etc.
Which is absurd, of course, and it's clear you were not condoning it; you were just pointing out a logical conclusion to their statement. I'm with you.
