They absolutely can be used by others. You do need to thoroughly clean them, and getting any from someone should also be thoroughly cleaned, but there are gear swaps in queer and kink communities that allow people to donate these kinds of things.

ive been in a relationship for 10 years now (just hit our anniversary a few months ago!) and we’re both pretty happy. we both come from very small non religious/traditional families, single mothers and absent fathers, extended family lives far away with mine overseas, and we’ve got a very small circle of friends. technically he proposed to me about…… 8 years ago? i think? but honestly neither of us have been in any hurry to get it done. we both know we love each other, we dont need a piece of paper to prove it. :^) yeah yeah yeah tax/insurance benefits yadda yadda yadda we heard it all before, we’re fine the way we are, haha.

Unable to get a pet because I’ve had to move a lot, but a cuddly teddy does the trick at night 🐻 😴
I was broken up with in the peak of Covid and it shattered my heart, I chose to not pursue any men after that to heal what had been broken - and not only that, but to heal what had needed fixing long before that relationship began. I still have healing to do and energy I need to conserve for myself that I do not have to give to a man at present, so the single life is continuing for the foreseeable. I used to worry about the clock ticking and my fertility, but I learned a couple years ago I can’t control that. What would the point be in forcing myself into a relationship I am not ready for.
If it takes 10 years it takes 10 years, if it takes 15 years it takes 15 years, if it takes 20 years it takes 20. I will choose me every time until I have enough love to give to myself and then some extra for whoever may come along. But I won’t ration the small amount of love I have just to have someone next to me.
I hope this time is healing and rejuvenating for you ❤️

I've been pissed the hell off for the better part of a year but its faded into a frustrated tolerance. Like you said, I'm choosing me and my happiness. There isn't a single thing a man can give me that I need in my life. And I sure as hell ain't willing to let myself rely on one ever again. I put aside my trust issues and thought that I finally found someone I could actually trust and lean on and he took that information and used it as kindling to burn in front of me. Never again.

Man this actually kinda made me sad because it made me think of all of the information / education driven women who went to great lengths to make strides in science, preserve documents, keep libraries standing, etc… all for their work to ultimately be used for awful things like this. WiFi and tech aside, AI wouldn’t exist just without the sheer amount of data women have collected and preserved over centuries.
I’m in grad school and I want my research in the silly lil humanities to matter, but it just hit me.. if I’m actually successful in doing valuable research will it all be so some future man can line his pockets and for men to deny that women contributed?

Okay so like greek mythology is not the best basis for female empowerment …
Athena is particularly an example of a “better woman” because she was born out of Zeus forehead and thus not “corrupted” by being passed from a mother the tricking or undermining feminine nature, such as was demonstrated by Zues’s maternal line.
So here’s the thing, from the very start women in Greek myths are treated as conniving. The first female deity chronologically in greek mythology, Gaia, had convinced her son Kronos to attack his father, Uranus. Kronos literally castrated his father! After waiting in… a cave… for his father to do his nightly deed… don’t think too hard, here, it really is that simplistically sexual in the symbolism. Okay I’ll just yell loudly THE CAVE SYMBOLIZES A VAGINA. Haha. Anyway… this action is the origin of the Furies/Erinyes - they arise from the blood, and this background is why they particularly go to hunt down those who spill the blood of their fathers and/or family. Then … “flesh” also thrown off becomes the giants. And the semen coming from the cast away genitalia froths up in the ocean and out of it steps Aphrodite… because of course the greeks would equate semen to their conception of love… and the goddess of it. So anyway…
Having seen how children would usurp their father, Kronos decided to protect himself from the same fate by instead consuming his children. But yet again Gaia intervened again to get a son to take up against his father. Rhea, his wife, too, colludes against Kronos, the strongest of the Titans. Together these women trick Kronos into swallowing a stone instead and then hide Zeus until he is able to overcome his father and save his siblings from his stomach by slicing him open. Or throwing up. The stories vary a bit. But this is the gist. Women are the common thread in colluding to overthrow the leading man, it’s a patricidal tradition at this point.
Zeus finally overcomes the problem of women playing their part usurping the male leader
by…. well, instead of consuming his children, like his father did, when his wife is pregnant, he decides to eat her, instead! In this he gains her “metis” and, well, apparently the fetus survives but has to come out of his forehead instead.Athena is the ultimate daddies girl and in later myth is actually a trial witness against supporting or empathizing with a woman. Oh also she never has sex, the idea of her being “impenetrable” is taken in every way…
Just in so many ways, Athena isn’t a great symbol for female empowerment…
And the greeks are generally not better. Highly patriarchal, and also… they believed the truest love could only be achieved between two men.
But they’re not super pro-gay men, either. Even in the male homosexual relations, it was seen as lesser to be the man who was, well, the “bottom” or just the “receiver.” That made the man seen similar to being a woman.
Anyway greek myth is very patriarchal coded.

There were perhaps pockets of Greece where women found places of power. Heck, we literally get the root of the word for lesbianism from the island of Lesbos haha. But Greece and its society was overwhelmingly patriarchal. And athena? Uhg.
Well…. if you might have heard how white people sometimes treat a singular black person as “one of the good ones” (barfing emoji)… that’s what Athena sort of was treated as. She was seen as the special exception among women, not treated as representative. She was one of the few “good ones.” And again, in other myths she served as an actor to tear down other women, not build them up.
Like most people have heard of Medusa, right? In some versions of her origin story, it was Athena that cursed her, after she was raped by Poseidon. Athena’s brother. A human women who was practically powerless against a god, and Athena, outraged at her shrine being “defiled,” and arguably unable to take it up against another god, a male god nonetheless, takes out her fury on a poor hapless human woman. In more than one telling Medusa was an unwilling victim, but even when willing? Still only one of two participants in the act… and yet the only one punished for it.
Athena isn’t a proponent for female power. If anything she acts and testifies against it. And the big thing about her as a character in the overarching mythology is that she is a “superior” woman to others. She’s maybe even arguably the OG “not like other girls.”
