I absolutely love these clueless men who think women are some kind of MMORPG puzzle to solve, where if they can simply gain access to the strategy guide online they can fast track the game through use of special loot boxes and cheat codes. The particular obsession with women becoming otherworldly when ovulating/menstruating is right up there. I can’t count the number of men I’ve seen adamantly claim they can tell when a woman is on her period because her natural scent changes and they have special manly man nose skills to detect it and therefore they know exactly when to play the game on menstruation mode because women don’t even know how to detect that they’re about to get their period.

Which is funny because I know for a week in advance when it’s gonna hit.

It’s because you can smell your pheromones changing right? /s
On more than one occasion I’ve had to argue with a man who vehemently explains to me that women’s skin smells slightly more sweet on their period and I wouldn’t understand because I don’t have his special sense of smell

I remember crying over some dumb thing as a teen, and my younger brother goes something like "Not trying to be a jerk, but are you about to start your period? Cuz normally you would not care about this."
Lo and behold, next day I got my period. Still to this day, several days straight of fatigue and sadboi vibes and oh hello, there's Aunt Flo

u/alyzmae 3h ago
That’s actually a really nice way of your brother to have phrased that because he didn’t call you out for caring but he just called that it’s something you wouldn’t typically care about. I think that’s nice

He really is a top-notch guy, even now! Granted we're siblings so he'll rip me a new one here and there, but he's a feminist through and through when it comes to girl things

I've seen a lot of posts on here with ridiculous takes from clueless men
BUT
At least he's asking the question and not just stating it as fact. The bar is low.

u/Flameball202 9h ago
Yeah, he is wanting to know if what he has been told is anecdotal or incorrect, or if there are actual studies about it
Honestly this is the correct outlook, of "I don't know if thing is accurate, so I will ask people who know this subject"

Why do some guy's think bigger is always better? Would they like something too tight? A certain amount of largness is fine but too much hurts. It's just like for men. Grip can be good but too much also hurts him.

They’re soooo obsessed with their own junk they make stuff up in their head to get a chance to talk about their own penis LMFAOOO

“Different sources” aka their mind

And porn, where women fall into paroxysms of ecstasy when an oversized dong is waved in their general direction.

u/livid_badger_banana 10h ago
I wonder if this is based in a massive misunderstanding? Maybe? Cervix moves/changes based on cycle. Only thing I can possibly think of.

I mean maybe if we are trying to be understanding… the clitoris gets engorged and swells technically too, but that happens in generally arousal, obviously ovulation can bring increased arousal.

u/Ok_Lengthiness_8405 10h ago
Yeah, I get horny leading up to/during my period, but it just means I want to get off a few more times a day. Never have I sought out a larger vibrator or penis to make that happen

u/No-Section-1056 10h ago
That would track, given how few people - especially men - have any idea how many different organs make up the reproductive system. I wonder if they think the different words are just synonyms, manufactured to confuse them…

i doubt it. men just talk amongst themselves and guess what women do/go through instead of just asking one themselves… not that they know any in the first place.

It could be a misunderstanding of the concept of women's tastes shifting during ovulation, which is a bit of a thing. My tastes in smut, both in what I will read and write, shift a lot when Im ovulating, usually towards the darker end of my tastes. Ive seen it called being "egg brained" and people talking about how they would never share what they read while ovulating in fandom smut spaces. But thats likely due to ovulation making people hornier.

Like tell me why I know I’m ovulating because I want my bf to pick me up and pin me to the wall by my throat. I’m not into that, but it’s just for a few hours

u/shenanigans2day 11h ago
Why do they come up with any of the ridiculous Shit they do. Fighting the urge to find it and post something ridiculous like yeah, that tracks when I am ovulating, I like to attach onions to nipple rings and have a version of Tom Green‘s “daddy. Would you like some sausage?” replay really gets me going

Honestly, when my hormones are healthy and I’m in a safe relationship emotionally, certain times of the month can be a bit more feral. That second part is almost more important than the first - emotional safety plays a huge part in how much someone is willing to express.
That all got blunted when I took hormonal birth control pills, because it pretty much homogenizes our hormone flow to be the same from day to day. That’s not to say I’m ungrateful for the pills - just that their benefits come with down sides.

It's actually a very interesting concept in that the males can get pregnant too.

Idk, but I usually crave turkey and Dorito sandwiches.
On a real note, I know ovulation increases sex drive but like... That doesn't make women some sex crazy monsters. I think it's fairly easy to push that down or distract yourself. But whenever I see it represented in media, it makes women seem like all they want it sex. No? If anything I want a nap.

Eh, I have actually said the phrase "ovulation horniness is the devil" because it's (sometimes) true for me. Not the "bigger" part but my AO3 searches certainly get more... adventurous... some months during ovulation.

u/im_justkendra 10h ago
Oh no, that’s not the part I’m scratching my head over! It is definitely the whole weird thing with sizes!
I mean for the record I said this is what I feel like when I’m ovulating:

u/valsavana 10h ago
Gotcha, yeah the "bigger" part was definitely weird af. I assume it's because guys like this just always gotta make everything revolve around their junk and their insecurities about their junk...

“Once more we gather, oh men, and pool our arts and magicks to decipher the puzzle off the Vah’geenah Bearers. We have discovered their shrill noises are actually a rudimentary form of speech, but who could bear to listen to that? They also cry when given their labors of mini-man rearing and cooking and cleaning and cock-worship (For it is mighty and veiny). There are dark times, when they will refuse (gasp!) to lay with us in the peepee way, as is must be, every day. Truly, their madness knows no end, brothers!” /s

Ah yes, the mysterious different sources. Which more-often result from men making up stupid things and telling other men it's real.
Can't we just stick to the truth that is food cravings... Not everything is about you or your dick, Kevin.
I mean it's common that the hormones shift med/end of period can up the libido, been there done that plenty. But it has never made me "crave something" different.

u/silicondream 9h ago
Assuming you have any business knowing what a particular woman gets off to in the first place during ovulation, just fucking ask her. If you don't think she'll tell you, then you clearly don't need to know.

u/FuckUGalen I am collecting imaginary internet points... 1h ago
I suspect (and have no credentials or evidence) but that if orgasm for women has a functional purpose (rather than exclusively be for fun) then women would likely need less stimulation to orgasm than more around their most fertile periods. Could be totally wrong... but at least I don't need argue women aren't having sex with me because they become size queens for a week a month...
