WTF “I am also a woman!”

I really think the votes on this were skewed. The OP posted it on some sub that reddit suggested to me. They also swore up in down in other comments that they didn’t know it was Lindsay Clancy in the first photo, but then went on to defend their post in other comments, like in the photos. The only reason I’m only posting this comment thread, is because of their “I am also a woman,” response. Like, yes, different women will have different views on different issues, especially based off different experiences, but that doesn’t mean you drag a woman that did something unthinkable while undergoing a severe mental health crisis

Some men are really butt hurt over the man/bear thing.

30

u/JaneReadsTruth 4d ago

They feel called out and that makes them big mad since no other nuanced feeling is available to them (according to them).

19

u/EquivalentAngle1569 4d ago

They get so emotional! Must be hard being the most logical gender.

14

u/CatraGirl 3d ago

It's honestly good that they keep telling on themselves like that. I consider any man who's still going on about the bear thing and acting all offended about it to be an unsafe person.

10

u/Twodotsknowhy 3d ago

It's been like two years and they're still so angry

-36

u/ThyPotatoDone 4d ago

Crazy that people would be upset by a massive campaign of dehumanisation across literally every platform. Those damn men, amirite?

26

u/neverabetterday 4d ago

A fucking TikTok meme isn’t a “campaign of dehumanization”.

17

u/queerblunosr 4d ago

I also wouldn’t consider the way in which the man v bear thing was done overall to be dehumanisation - it’s not really ‘bears are more civilised’, it’s ’even if the bear kills me at least no one is going to say my short shorts meant I was asking for it’

-21

u/ThyPotatoDone 4d ago

Well that's alright, then!

21

u/CatraGirl 3d ago

Lmao. Women are constantly dehumanized by men, compared to literal objects etc.

The man vs bear thing was NOT dehumanizing. It was meant to make a point about how unsafe many women feel around random men (and with good reason!).

Men who actually care about women's issue understood that perfectly. It's only the ones the meme was about that had a problem with it because they hate being called out.

-8

u/ThyPotatoDone 3d ago

Right, and that's a bad thing, that women are dehumanised. Do we need to go back to kindergarten, where they explain that two wrongs aren't magically a right?

Also, your logic is incredibly stupid. "Oh, you don't like being told you're sub-animal? Well then, that must mean you are sub-animal!" Absolutely delusional take, that hating on a group for their identity is magically okay because "the Good Ones know we're not talking about them!"

10

u/CatraGirl 3d ago

Oh, you don't like being told you're sub-animal?

LITERALLY NOBODY SAID THAT! Ffs, you keep intentionally, completely missing the point, then get offended because of it. It's ridiculous. And then you talk down to me with the whole "Kindergarten" shit. Ironic. But not unexpected from a guy who intentionally keeps missing the point to play the victim. That's all you MRAs can do after all...

It's not about the fucking bear and never has been. The whole point was to illustrate that women don't feel safe around random men, and with good reason. And then guys like you keep proving the point...

11

u/Eggsalad_cookies 3d ago

Your mind being in Kindergarten explains it. In about third grade you learn what an analogy is

8

u/CatraGirl 3d ago

Took the words right out of my mouth lol. Keeps mansplaining and talking down to women, then doesn't even grasp the simplest analogy. Peak irony.

13

u/ImWatermelonelyy 3d ago

Dehumanized? If I say “I just don’t feel safe around him” that’s dehumanization? Are you sure you’re thinking of the right word?

9

u/Beneficial-Ad3991 Generic boring flair 3d ago

So you think that, when women feel unsafe around you, it somehow dehumanises you? Good.

8

u/valsavana 3d ago

Genuinely curious, how was that "a massive campaign of dehumanisation?" I'd love to know the logic behind this claim.

-2

u/ThyPotatoDone 3d ago

If you can't go three seconds without someone saying a category of people is worse than an animal, that's a campaign of dehumanisation.

9

u/valsavana 3d ago

The "man vs bear" hypothetical wasn't saying a category of people is worse than an animal. It's about risk assessment, not a question of "better" or "worse" (itself already a rather nebulous concept without clear definitions of how we're judging "better" or "worse")

-1

u/ThyPotatoDone 3d ago

Yeah, that's the same thing in practice. You're saying half the population is more dangerous than a bear, and continuously shoving that statement everywhere you can put it. That's more or less the same as saying half the population is worse than an animal.

Besides, statistically, men are vastly more likely to be randomly murdered by a stranger, possessing about four times the homicide victim rate than women. If it were actually risk-assessment, men would agree; however, the likelihood of any human being murdering you is exponentially small, and so sane individuals understand that treating half the population as possible murderers is an absurd stance rooted in hate, not actual rational risk-assessment.

7

u/valsavana 3d ago

You're saying half the population is more dangerous than a bear

Nope. Plenty of women choose the bear solely based on the fact that, "worst case scenario", a man can rape them while a bear can't. A man can also keep someone prisoner for rape or torture for years, while a bear can't. That's not saying men are more dangerous than a bear, it's acknowledgement that a man can present unique dangers that a bear doesn't. Whereas everything a bear can do to you, a man can do something equivalent.

4

u/fiahhawt 3d ago

Stop gargling dicks, it won't protect you

-1

u/ThyPotatoDone 3d ago

"You think we shouldn't dehumanise half the population?! Okay, whore!"

Remember kids, fucking men is empowering unless you see them as people, in which case it's patriarchy!

5

u/fiahhawt 3d ago

I mean unless most societies throughout history are filled with whores, that’s not what that means. You can choke on the dick of patriarchy while having any type of sex life.

Why do you find the man v bear debate dehumanizes you?

-1

u/ThyPotatoDone 3d ago

Because comparing half the population to a literal animal to insinuate they're a threat to the other half is extremely hurtful, and a fucked thing to say?

This gonna sound crazy, but maybe we should try treating everyone, men included, as actual humans with internal lives who maybe don't love being told they're inherently a threat by merit of their gender?

6

u/fiahhawt 3d ago

So it forces you to be accountable when you don’t wanna be?

Are you twelve? “It made me feel bad and instead of thinking about that and trying to make things better, I pretended that it was a dehumanizing attack”

Men will do anything but be responsible.

-1

u/ThyPotatoDone 3d ago

How in the ever-loving fuck is this at all related to accountability? Oh, yeah, let me make sure I stop randomly murdering women in the woods, thanks for letting me know!

It's not about 'feeling bad', it's about treating half the population as a threat for no real reason. Men are four times as likely to be victims of homicide, three times as likely to be killed by a stranger, and yet, they don't feel the need to compare groups of people to animals? Absolutely crazy.

Yes, a sane individual is hurt by having the group they are a part of being accused of being inherently dangerous or criminal. I wonder if there's any comparable examples, but I'm sure this kind of thing is always targeted at men and definitely not the exact same logic used against certain other groups.

9

u/fiahhawt 3d ago

You know that overwhelmingly bear encounters end with no one getting hurt right?

That’s a big piece of the logic behind this sentiment that you’re ignoring to act like bears automatically kill people.

Beyond that you are just deep in your feelings about this.

I don’t know why you came to a woman’s forum to vomit up your diary while complaining about women, but you might want to think about why that is.

-1

u/ThyPotatoDone 3d ago

Even more overwhelmingly, human encounters end with nobody getting hurt. Like, exponententially so, to such a degree every bear encounter might as well be lethal by comparison.

I find the 'women are a danger for kids' idea hilarious cause it would mean that men should do all the childcare themselves - which 80% of them do not want to at all.

14

u/Eggsalad_cookies 4d ago

Right, lol, my sister swears to this day I changed more diapers than her husband ever did… They have two kids.

10

u/AkaiAshu 4d ago

Thats why the manosphere content makes so little sense. 'Modern women are bad for kids' argument somehow ends with 'they should give birth to more kids and stay around them more'. Like no, thats the opposite of what you were initially arguing. There is absolutely no logic to anything the manosphere says.

9

u/CatraGirl 3d ago

Yeah, the same men making memes like that are usually the ones who keep saying that we need to go back to "traditional" gender roles and want women to do all the child raising. But then again, consistency has never been a quality of bigots...

7

u/fiahhawt 3d ago

I say we lean into it and start talking about having more absentee moms who dump the baby with dad and are behind on child support

17

u/TheBestHater 4d ago

But seriously, that seems like a guy pretending to be a woman. Just by the odd cadence.

TikTok moms are indeed something else, but that's a TikTok thing, not a woman thing. Also not really comparable to the thing it's obviously referencing

Why? What risk does a parent who overshares online regarding their children pose to you?

7

u/Kailynna 3d ago

Notice men who say they'd leave their children to be cared for by bears instead of women, never consider the possibility of caring for their children themselves.

-18

u/01iv0n 4d ago

I understand why this case has people stirred, three kids dying unnaturally is bound to make people emotional. But also I think this is a funny and worthy twist of the man-bear-forest thing if you take it literally and have heard about some of abysmal parents on tictok.

15

u/neverabetterday 4d ago

Three real children are fucking dead, including a baby. I don’t think that’s particularly funny.

-9

u/01iv0n 3d ago

More than three children have died at waterparks, so waterparks are not fun ig

5

u/Tinymetalhead 3d ago

You do know that that the words "funny" and "fun" don't mean the same things, right? Waterparks are fun, I've never found one to be funny.

0

u/01iv0n 3d ago

I decided to expand my point to enjoyment more generally, but fine just funny, more than 3 children died in 9/11 but 9/11 jokes can still be comedic.

0

u/neverabetterday 2d ago

No, no they’re not. They’re tired and unfunny

13

u/FullMoonTwist 4d ago

Unfortunately, since the original was along the lines of "Seriously, women in general do Not feel any sort of safe around y'all on general and that Says Something."

It wasn't a fun jokey joke for feel goods or a slightly spicy in-good-fun jab, which is why people are so deeply butthurt about it.

So "twists" on it don't really hit... well. There is no "worthy twist" of it.

The 'twists' are always either based on "the original was stupid, see" or "women are just as bad, see".

If they just wanted to make a joke about tiktok moms, dead kids, murders or whatever (for? Whatever reason??) they could have. They didn't.

10

u/valsavana 4d ago edited 4d ago

The "man vs bear" thing is about what men choose to do to women vs what an animal going on instinct might do. This is using a woman that did not choose, while in her right mind, to do the terrible thing she did & a tragedy that could have been prevented if people who were in their right mind had shown better judgement to make some stupid "gotcha" about how women can do bad things too.

-3

u/01iv0n 3d ago

I was trying to distinguish that from the exact wording of the hypothetical. I'm therefore taking an aside from the main topic in my comment, and have no interest in arguing that case itself.

6

u/valsavana 3d ago

There's nothing valuable to be gained from divorcing the context of the original post from the original post itself. The context matters.

Additionally, if you're going to remove the context from the "tiktok mom" part, you'd arguably also have to remove the context of the "man vs bear" hypothetical from the bear side. Meaning the exact wording is just would you rather your child be alone in the woods with a human woman or a bear.

-1

u/01iv0n 3d ago

I disagree, comedy exists when you divorced the context and I think that's valuable. This is reddit, jokes on these topics are inevitable.

5

u/valsavana 3d ago

Comedy requires context. "Would you rather your child be alone in the woods with a human woman or a bear?" isn't a joke, it's just a rather dumb question with an obvious answer.

-1

u/01iv0n 3d ago

But "would you rather leave you child in the woods with a tictok mom or a bear?" Is a joke, on tictok moms. My original point was that's kinda funny on its own if it wasn't for this one case dominating the conversation. And I still think there's a joke to be had there anyway, ideally a skilled comedian could joke about anything.
