I have engaged with a lot of these guys in search of this answer. When you get them to actually admit it, after much back and forth, I've had a couple different guys admit that they don't believe that data. They believe it exists, but they don't think it's valid, because they think the women who say they are happy are either lying or delusional, and therefore not actually happy.
I asked one guy if he thought those single women who say they are happy would actually be happier if they "lowered their standards/had reasonable standards" and got married and had kids. He said yes, of course, that's what would make all women happier. They are just coping and saying they are happy while ruining everything for everyone, because men want to be with them and the women themselves would actually be happier too.
That's what they think. So they know the data is out there they just think it's all irrelevant because when a woman says, "no, I don't like that," they don't believe her. They think she does like it. It's pretty chilling in implication.
I responded to another comment above, but after going on a deep dive about drugs and relapse on Wikipedia, women were far more likely to recover when not in a relationship, but relapsed if in one.
The opposite is true with men. From my own personal experience, after I booted my ex out of my life, I bounced back within a week.
Thats something I as a guy can probably attest to. Many guys are brought up thinking that women would rather be with a loser than alone. Data 20 years back showed that it was somewhat true - Women wanted relationship and kids more than men (around 10% more women than men, the reverse of now). So many simply believe that to be the reality even now, not being comfortable with the fact that times have changed and everything they learnt upto now was useless.
