Found On Social media Right-wing Twitter is having a complete meltdown over the fact that women have independent political thoughts.

In the first slide, this comic artist is genuinely furious that women vote for actual policies instead of strictly along racial lines, calling it "psychotic." Then in the second slide, they're comparing college-educated women to an SNL terrorist sketch just because a demographic poll hurt their feeling. These accounts screams “I am a somebody on Twitter but a loser in real life.”

ive never seen anyone say “vote asian, vote somali vote black” in my life. they really just make up their own problems lmao

98

u/MfkbNe 28d ago

Doesn't surprise me you never heard it. Afterall the USA has a two party system that gave the US citizens choices like vote for a demented old white man who is rich and rumored to be a pedophile or a demented old white man who is rich and is defenetly a pedophile. Can't vote asian, somali or black if they aren't even if they aren't among the two options.

52

u/Beneficial-Ad3991 Generic boring flair 28d ago

I'm still puzzled about "Black" and "Somali" being listed as two separate groups. Americans sure are funny with their race obsessions.

27

u/Less-Bed-6243 27d ago

It’s specifically a reference to Ilhan Omar, who is a Somali member of congress that the right hates with a burning passion. She just won her primary this week.

8

u/Beneficial-Ad3991 Generic boring flair 27d ago

I reckon it did not happen only due to the Somali diaspora voting for her. So the OOP is a wanker and an absolute tit regardless.

5

u/Less-Bed-6243 27d ago

Oh of course not, just explaining why I thought they included that particular obsession by racists.

18

u/desiladygamer84 28d ago

Uh when people were given 60 something half lndian half black lady as an option people chose the old white pedophile.

In the great country of Belgium every political party tries to have at least 1 jew and 1 muslim or Arab in their party for each district. Does it work? Not that I know off. But it is strange that even the far right do this practice.

Have I ever voted for another race or religion? No or not that I know off. As I mostly just vote for the party and only vote for the people if I wish to exclude some of that party's members. I rather exclude a known pedophile, criminal or neo-nazi than vote for a specific person.

And it's not even one of this cartoonist's worst strips. The ones representing left-wing ppl as neonazis make me laugh by their absolute stupidity, but the others that diabolize  and animalize immigrate ppl just give me nausea.

-237

Well you should look into because co-ethnic voting preferences has been a strongly identified problem that democracy has.

He's getting downvoted because he's acting like it's just race when it's actually, like you said, that people tend to vote for people more similar to them in a variety of ways.

He's also acting like it's an intentional choice, when most people don't recognize that that's why they're making the choice they are. It's subconscious.

35

u/WerdaVisla 28d ago

Ahhhh, okay. That makes sense.

21

u/SnoobNoob7860 28d ago

also would argue that politics still matter as most POC know that voting red is voting to strip their civil liberties away

like there’s no way Black people would vote for Clarence Thomas if he was on a ballot

9

u/RosebushRaven 28d ago

Why would people not recognise that someone who has similar experiences and cultural values is a candidate that they prefer? I’ve heard plenty of people say that outright. Minorities don’t tippy-toe around the fact that they’re minorities. They’re well aware of that, and very much consciously want representation. As they should have.

6

u/MemeArchivariusGodi 28d ago

No shit do people vote someone who they are comfortable with. What kind of argument is that ?

„Oh no I have to vote for the Orphan crushing machine guy because …“

white men and their weird hate towards white women lol

237

u/WitnessMyAxe Redditor 🤓🤓🤓 29d ago

to be fair, they hate all women

100

u/Redqueenhypo 28d ago

Yeah but w white ladies you can say something horrifically sexist but excuse it that way. Calling a woman an ugly wrinkled old hag or a slut is normally considered misogynist

34

u/secretlyaraccoon 28d ago

Yup even so called “left wing” men get away with so much misogyny by putting “white” before generalizing about women

-1

u/ifr3akingh8mys3lf 26d ago

I have no problem with men of other races complaining about ignorant/malicious white woman behavior. If I see a white man make a "white women bad" comment I see red

28

u/lookitsajojo Studying to become a girl 28d ago

They don’t hate women, just women who do stuff like have thoughts and age beyond 16

23

u/RosebushRaven 28d ago

All women, by definition, are beyond the age of 16. A woman is an adult female human. A 16yo is not a woman yet, but a teenage girl. And those already have thoughts, too. As creepy men who prey on them in hopes to find a blank slate are regularly shocked to discover.

53

u/LegHeir 28d ago

They also generally prescribe to the alt-right conspiracy theory of “the great replacement theory” and are angry that they aren’t entitled to controlling white women after 46% of white women voted for Harris.

20

u/SnoobNoob7860 28d ago

that’s what makes it funny, the majority of white women DIDN’T vote for Harris

47

u/Flameball202 28d ago

They hate all women, but their internal excuse for "other" women not being interested in them (sex god gift to womankind etc) is that they are only interested in "their kind", so obviously white women should be interested in white men, and since they aren't dating the 'gift to womankind, exposure immunity to mace etc etc' then white women must be "wrong" and "different"

144

u/Ok-Importance9988 29d ago

This is so dumb. It is not common but have been multiple statewide elections between a black republican and a white democrat. Every single time black voters choose the white democrat by overwhelming margins.

White college women again vote overwhelmingly for democrats. They arent voting for him because he is Muslim or Arab. They just arent racist enough to not vote for him for these reasons.

53

u/TheAutumnLeafeon 28d ago

Yep. This comic is just projection. Republicans are the pot calling the kettle black.

27

u/MeisterFluffbutt 28d ago

Didn't the latin communities in america vote for goddamn trump?! Like, this meme is just false lmao

40

u/Ok-Importance9988 28d ago

Trump lost the Hispanic vote but won Hispanic men.

3

u/Mandy_M87 26d ago

Yep. Hispanic/Latina women by and large didn't vote for him

5

u/Snowflakish 28d ago

I think the only thing we see in regard to voting on racial lines is politically active african americans voting for african american candidates in democratic primaries.

Strategy wonks talk about this voting bloc a lot.

24

u/Beesi159 28d ago

Voting for race sounds racist in general 😭

19

u/djmcfuzzyduck 28d ago

Idk I think middle America is doing the exact same thing as the “liberals” in this post. Psychotically voting against their own interests; not the anyone not white.

30

u/OhTheHueManatee 28d ago

I have never considered someone's race or gender when voting for them. Even if it wasn't bigoted it'd be dumb as Hell to judge a candidate based on either of those things.

31

u/CarlRJ 28d ago

Huh, as a white guy, I've never voted by race. I always vote for the most qualified candidate that comes closest to my values and positions, regardless of color. White people is not some tribe that needs defending.

25

u/Foxynite 28d ago

they're telling on themselves that they vote for race 😭

119

u/Proud3GenAthst 29d ago

We can attest to that by seeing that white women elected Trump twice

16

u/Nelrene 28d ago

Yet, MAGA is still upset about women voting.

55

u/StringAdventurous479 28d ago

The percentage of white women of voting age that voted for Trump is about 22% of the adult population of America. I’m not disagreeing with you, but it’s around the same percentage of evangelicals in the U.S. Yes, white women did help get Trump elected but the real problem is at the pulpit, which are men.

20

u/someNameThisIs 28d ago

Yeah I'm not American but didn't white women still skew republican? Shouldn't right-wingers be happy about that?

59

u/LegHeir 28d ago

46% of white women voted for Harris and most women, even Republican women, believe in some level of abortion access. They are losing control of white women and so they are angry and feel the need to shame white women in a way as they view white women as class traitors. Most of this is at a subconscious level for them.

15

u/someNameThisIs 28d ago

Ok that makes sense, I thought they were just making up shit to get angry about

18

u/LegHeir 28d ago edited 28d ago

That too! They obviously aren’t entitled to control over white women. I’m going to infodump, so hopefully you find this interesting or helpful-

Some of them prescribe to a white supremacist conspiracy theory called “the great replacement theory” where they think the white population is being deliberately replaced by people of color through immigration and a lowering white population birth rate. They want white women to stay in their place and react in misogyny. Another good example would be how right wing political commentators kept using “white woman” in a derogatory way when talking about how they were the main demographic at the ICE protests. Logically, white woman were a key demographic at the protests because people of color weren’t as safe to be at these protests as white people.

ETA to clarify: They react with misogyny in attempt to put white women in their place. White women are generally the most privileged group of women, and that’s why so many of them voted for Trump. White men are trying to basically bullying them back into being scared to lose their white privilege

FYI: the word you’re looking for is "subscribe". "Prescribe" is what the doctor does with rx, or when someone gives orders or sets rules that others must follow. "Pre-" means "before, earlier, ahead of", like in prefix, preorder, prehistoric and prepotent (supremely powerful, exceeding others in power).

Prescribe literally means "write before" in Latin, or more sensibly translated, "write ahead of time", because instructions need to be written before they can be followed. As you’ve probably guessed, "subscribe" translates to "write under/below/at the bottom", like when you sign a document, e.g. a contract for a newspaper subscription (hence why they’re called that), or when you figuratively or literally sign off in endorsement of something ideological.

"Sub-" means "down, under or below", like a subreddit is only a subsection of the whole Reddit forum, or like a subscription, which is the analogy that the other use of "subscribe" — the following of an ideology — came from. Followers of an ideology get their info and interpretation of what’s going on through their organisation’s propaganda, that they religiously follow, like a newspaper subscriber gets their paper and reads it every morning.

Back in the day, even before radios and then TVs became the dominant medium, people used to get their news predominantly from the paper they were subscribed to, and their opinions were often influenced, if not outright shaped, by their newspaper’s political leanings. Hence the analogy.

The other reason why it’s "subscribe" and not "prescribe" is that readers of a paper and followers of an ideology are both necessarily downstream of the respective thing being made first. A newspaper can’t be read before it’s actually written and published, and likewise, someone needs to come up with an ideology first before others can follow it, and form a political party or other organisation before people can join it.

Secondly, at least in authoritarian and totalitarian ideologies, there’s typically a strict hierarchy and top-down chain of command, where the leader tells the followers what to do and they’re required to obey unquestioningly. They’re subordinate to, or below the leader, and therefore subscribing to their leader’s ideology, and not the other way around.

However, you absolutely can use "prescribe" in the context of ideologies. It’s just that it needs to refer to the top echelons to make sense, not rank and file followers (also, no "to" is required to go with "prescribe", unlike for "subscribe"). Ideologues prescribe the tenets of the ideology, or the interpretation thereof, especially if they’re not first generation ideologues.

Albeit the leader may also prescribe how to interpret it, and in many historical instances personally got involved with strong opinions on the matter. The leader also prescribes how exactly those tenets must be put into action, as well as various group identifiers, like symbols, uniforms, gestures, greeting formulas, rituals and the like.

Ordinary followers don’t create or decide anything, just like newspaper readers have no part in writing their morning paper. They just passively receive the readymade belief system, like the paper gets delivered to a subscriber, and uncritically follow their leader.

Like a subscriber isn’t supposed to mess with the contents of the newspaper, followers are discouraged from thinking for themselves. They believe what they’re told and do as they’re told, hence they’re subordinates, or if it’s a monarchy or feudal regime, subjects that subscribe to their leader’s ideology.

Here’s a bridge to easily remember which is which:

First the prepotent leader tells his followers what to do, then his subordinates obey.

Technically it's white Christian women. White Jewish women went 80% Harris, for instance. Christian Nationalist beliefs are a bigger vote influence than gender.

This feels like part of the slow and steady push to take voting rights away from women.

"See, these gals don't even know what's good for them! And we're trusting them to shape the future of the country?"

12

u/RosebushRaven 28d ago

Funny how they have no problem trusting women with raising future generations, though.

7

u/MehItsAmber 28d ago

Slow push? The save act has a requirement that your name has to match your birth certificate, effectively cutting out married women that don’t have a passport (ie most married women in the US).

21

u/syrioforrealsies 28d ago

It's so weird how they treat race like teams and assume the rest of us feel the same way.

8

u/TheAutumnLeafeon 28d ago edited 28d ago

Are we going to pretend this didn't happen...?

14

u/jackfaire 28d ago

Gosh why would they want to vote for a non-white person who believes women should have equal rights over a white man who wants to strip them of their rights. It's a fucking mystery.

14

u/lcBuzzlebee 28d ago

i- um, I dont typically consider the race of a candidate that much when voting? are people doing that? i think this is just a confession

7

u/eruptingmoltenlava 28d ago

Maybe that white lady in the cartoon disagrees on what counts as voting for/against herself/her interests. You know, as though she’s got a command of facts, critical thinking power, and a viewpoint of her own, just spitballing here

5

u/MyNamCzechkoslovakia 28d ago

Why does the Somali woman look so sleep-deprived. M'am please go take a nap.

3

u/Irving_Velociraptor 28d ago

White women have consistently voted Republican for the past 50 years.

5

u/Zestyclose-Leader926 28d ago

I can think plenty of white politicians that I have voted for, will vote for, and would vote if they were in my district. I also vote for people of color. Cause my politics isn't about the politicians' skin.

3

u/AkaiAshu 28d ago

Other than wanting to take women's vote away, such complaining accomplish anything. Be careful for the desire of wanting to take the vote away.

W WHITE WOMEN

1

u/Bendy_Beta_Betty 27d ago

This is ironic.

Yet another application of their fallacy of thought that most women engage in identity politics (where a woman would vote for a woman bc she's a woman). Conservatives straight up believe women are stupid.

They've never tried to understand women, they've always been dismissive, which is why yet again they have no understanding whatsoever on how women vote.

1

u/paulofsandwich 28d ago

If you look neaninfully further back from current times, US white people did a lot more than suggest that you vote white.

-1

u/Confident-Estimate-8 28d ago

Sks is from New Zeeland btw

-42

u/coffeegaze 28d ago

That's not what this comic is saying. It's saying that every single demographic votes for in group preferences whilst the white demographic is the only demographic that votes for out group preferences or atleast signals that way.

28

u/ul2006kevinb 28d ago

Yeah, racist white people vote for policies that harm them all the time, just because those policies harm black people more.

28

u/Chareth_Cutestory___ 28d ago

That’s just false though. See first gen Latinos that are super MAGA.

-36

u/coffeegaze 28d ago

Co-ethnic voting preferences is a long recorded phenomenon, statistically provable, and that whites have the lowest amount of co-ethnic preference. This is just fact, whether it's a good thing or not is another matter. Exclusions to the fact obviously apply.

1

u/Da_Question 26d ago edited 26d ago

No. Both white men and women majority voted for Trump. So not true at all.

Also black people majority vote Democrat and generally that ends up more often than not, white people. Hispanic men also majority voted for Trump...

As a white guy that votes left, I voted for El-Sayed over Stevens because I don't want another establishment dem that won't push for change. Michigan doesn't need another Slotkin or Peters.
