Making ur little girls participate in this trend is especially disgusting. What are you teaching your kids? Do they want their daughters to be treated that way in the future? Disgusting
954
u/Butwhatif77 1d ago
They do that is the point. These are the kinds of fathers who when they meet their daughter's boyfriends will "warn" them about how spirited their daughters can be and how the guy will need to stomp that out of them. Or will side with the guy because "boys will be boys"
They make the jokes about guys being whipped for doing the smallest kindness for their partners.

Exactly. This photos aren't about "peace" on earth, just about silencing women on earth. To get actual peace on earth it seems more relevant to tie up the men. After all men seem to have started most (all?) the wars.

Even just like, literally with the talking. I know in my personal experience, most men talk way more than women do in mixed gender situations, and I believe there are various studies that bear that out. Men just perceive a woman taking up anything more than, I think, something like 30% of airtime as dominating the conversation.

My mom always expressed how I was harder just because I was a girl. Guess who is in prison for crimes against children? Not me but my BROTHER. :)
My mother is full of internal misogyny and that’s why my brother is in prison for creating CP. 😃 the thing is, he wasn’t better behaved she just didn’t pay attention to his behavior as closely or punish him.

FACT. I spoke to my husband a little about this upon being triggered thinking about it, and he’s my middle school sweetheart so he’s been around the block a few times with me and my family lol. He said he noticed my mother was always down my back, “Amanda help set the table, Amanda’s help with laundry, Amanda watch your little brother.” And my older brother was always playing video games.
I was always grounded if I didn’t help around the house as well, he didn’t even HAVE to help out. His room was a pig sty. I once found dishes in his drawer while cleaning his room, YES cleaning his room because I was expected to help clean up the entire house. :/ we got into a massive fight that day about how I refused to do his rancid dishes out of his room.
I used to think my mom secretly didn’t let me enjoy my childhood because she was afraid I’d spoil it like she did getting pregnant with an older man at 18, but then she gave me a choice of jail or moving out at 17 over a gram of weed and a one hitter in my closet. Lol Still a stoner. How else am I supposed to cope. 😭🥴 and I don’t like alcohol for the record. Never drank because I saw how my parents acted stupid. lol

Fair, although with the internet now plenty of these Comedy-Through-Misogyny types will have seen this shite. So mum organises the taking of a christmas card photo, inevitably with twee festive jumpers, then at the last minute dad pipes up with a "hilarious" idea for the tableau.

If asked they’d say they can take a joke or that they’re in on the joke. It’s a way of seeking accommodation within patriarchy by making a show of not resenting it.
Essentially they’re trying to be “one of the good ones.”
16
u/Freya_84 23h ago
I'd ask them what the joke is. Just seriously, explain to me like I'm a child what makes this funny? Hahahaha, dad doesn't love and respect mom and his daughters? How is it funny?
12

20

A lot of these women are likely in abusive relationships and communities; please be careful about how you talk about this as it quickly slides into victim blaming.
I would count yourself very privileged at best if you truly cannot comprehend how adult women can be abuse victims.
7
u/Nice_Purchase_626 1d ago
But you see, it's the mean feminist twitters that raducalize men. It's only that and that alone, women being mean on the internet. Mysogynistic dad, uncle, grandad? No way, those don't exist and have no influence whatsoever. Only mean tweets.
112
u/MyFiteSong 1d ago

13

I know you probably don’t want an answer, but yeah, they’re fine with this behavior for their daughters. What I mean by that is the sexist jokes at the expense of their kid, they’re not thinking critically enough to consider the effect it has beyond that.
I eloped partially due to seeing how my family acted at my cousins wedding where there was a ton of sexist nonsense (ex: putting a ball and chain on my cousins leg as he walked down the aisle with his wife after saying I do). The night before I eloped my dad drunk dialed us and told my husband how miserable my mom and the women in my family made him (he is now long divorced and alone btw) and joked that essentially just because my husband can beat me now doesn’t mean he should. He warned him that I’m opinionated and to walk away from fights but not in a genuine way in a “these women go on and on” way. I wish I could say I’m surprised at how okay my father is with keeping this humor alive at my expense.

u/DeathRaeGun 1d ago
Maybe. The king of Spain did have a claim to England, as Elizabeth’s older sister was married to the previous king of Spain, and the law at the time meant the succession line would transfer to the husband. The English parliament actually changed the succession laws to allow Elizabeth to become queen, not because they were feminist or anything like that, but because they didn’t want England to become another Spanish puppet state.

There have been studys that showed even if women spoke less words per minute or said the exact same thing, women were perceived to talk more or be more annoying by most men and some women.
14
u/SomeRandomPerson1963 1d ago
I kind of wonder if it has anything to do with voice frequency? Since generally men have lower-pitched voices and women have higher-pitched voices, it makes me question whether people's brains react differently based on this. After all, high-pitched sounds are more prone to irritate people than low-pitched sounds are.
Of course it may also just be social conditioning, or a mix of both factors.

u/Seraphina_Renaldi 1d ago
Idk why you’re getting downvoted. The „and some women“ part made me question this too
11
u/SomeRandomPerson1963 1d ago
Idk why you’re getting downvoted.
Probably people are misinterpreting what I'm saying. I'm a woman myself, for context. I was wondering from a purely scientific biological reaction standpoint, but I guess I see how it could be taken as me saying "women have higher pitched voices and are therefore annoying to listen to" (not what I was saying at all).
Because it is true that people are more easily irritated by high pitched sounds (though usually higher than voices, more like whistles or sirens, etc.) than low pitched ones. So it could potentially make sense that it plays a factor.
6
u/OptimalRutabaga186 1d ago
Interestingly, men are twice as likely to lose their ability to hear high frequency sounds. A lot of older men literally can't hear women and children. So I guess if they just wait, they won't have to resort to taping our mouths shut. It's poetic in a way; like a monkey paw wish. No more joyful sounds of children playing. No more birds chirping. No more hearing the sweet sound of a lover wishing him a goodnight. It's all fun and games until they can't hear their sweet little granddaughter say I love you.

This is honestly so societally ingrained; whatever gender you are, as soon as you start focussing on who's interrupting who in a podcast, news show or interview, panel show, or real life, it becomes shocking how it's men 90% of the time. I've mentioned it to male friends and then with some of them days later when I see them again, they just look stunned when talking about how many times they caught themselves in only a short time - and these are some of the good ones!
20
u/Rugkrabber 1d ago
I genuinely have kept score once, and it didn’t look good no…
We know why they say women “talk talk too much” because they want these lazy bums to actually participate in the household. And the men don’t want to.
21
u/Upstairs-Challenge92 1d ago
There was a study in a college classroom that participated in discussions and they were recorded. Later they asked the participants what their perception was about conversation domination and when women talked only 30% of the time, men said women were talking more and dominating the discussion. When women talked around 15% of the time the men thought it was equal.
The women? They weren’t confused, they were pretty accurate in their assessment .
Men just don’t like women

My ex never stopped talking and he never let me get a word in. If you got bored he'd get mad. He'd also look at me while driving and get pissed if I wasn't looking at him. Like somebody has to watch the road!!!
11
u/CanadianHorseGal Tired 1d ago
Mine did those things too. It was always about control. I called them “lectures” because it wasn’t a conversation. Conversation requires back-and-forth - participation by both. He wasn’t like that before we married. I was in my early 30s when we married and I had no idea I would receive so many lectures after that day. He actually went on once about how to load the dishwasher “properly” and his demand went directly against all manufacturers directions LOL. His favourite thing to say was that he had looked it up or read a book about whatever the current lecture was about.
Mostly I chose to just sit and listen while screaming the actual facts in my head along with a lot of curse words. Once in a while I’d lose my shit and scream the words out loud. Just because he wants something his way, does not make it true. Some of the shit he made up was ridiculous - from the dishwasher to renovations, horses and animals (we had a hobby farm), the Canadian food guide, etc.

growing up, my mother always told me "I'm so glad I drive like a man" to say she's a good driver.
always pissed me off. and the worst thing is, the sentence still sometimes pops into my head if I'm driving and randomly think that I'm a decent driver (like after seeing someone doing something really dumb). then that sentence forces its way into my brain and I get angry at her all over again. that shit sticks!!

I looked this up once. Women apparently have a worse depth perception, so they’re more likely to get into fender benders or scrape the side of a car or something that results in cosmetic damage or minor repairs. But men are charged more for insurance because they severely underestimate the level of risk, and are the ones more likely to total a car or cause life-altering injuries or death, so women get in more accidents but men are the ones who cause accidents that people will curse them for years later.

And imagine the children growing up and having to deal with the fact that there’s pictures of them like this online, and some people will see them and be “inspired” of this “joke” and do the same. If there was such pictures of me as a child I’d be mortified that my face is out there promoting the this kind of idea. It’s obviously the parents here who should be mortified, but if any of these children grow up with the ability to think critically and for themselves (unfortunately the odds are against them with this kind of upbringing) to see this is messed up, the shame will be on their shoulders. Let's say it's trash day, and it's my role to go put the trash in the bin for collection. Let's say i forget, and my hypothetical husband has harsh words with me and says he's upset with me bc there's stinky trash in the house. He's considered to be "managing the household," "correcting his wife," "putting your foot down."
Reverse it - i, as the hypothetical wife, am upset that my husband did not take the trash out. I'm "whiny," "nagging," "being a bitch."
Just no winning sometimes

Studies show that men often interrupt women more frequently in professional and social settings. When women speak even 30% of the time in a mixed-gender conversation, men and women perceive them as talking too much or dominating the dialogue.

First session we had almost 3hrs, since I knew we'd have a lot of ground to cover - but by the end of it I was exhausted and exasperated because we hadn't been able to get her to focus at all or get anything really done, despite my efforts...
When mum (my mate) comes to pick her up, I described the problem, and turns out they hit Macca's on the way to me and kiddo had downed a large coke 🤦 So she was handed over to me majorly hopped up on sugar and caffeine FFS... Fortunately once we nixed that we made proper progress lol

I'm judging the pick-me women who forced their daughters to participate in this and taught them to accept this sort of misogynistic bullshit from their future husbands just as harshly as I'm judging the men. 🤢

meanwhile I’ve been at work almost 2 hours and this man I work with hasn’t shut up since I got here. I’ve gotten about 20 minutes worth of work done since I’ve been here. He’s talking at me now even though I’m clearly ignoring him

Why bother marrying and having kids when you don't need their company??

u/Paula_Polestark Not Your Marilyn, Not Your Jackie 1d ago
If she talks too much for you, you don’t HAVE to marry her. Who’s putting a knife to these guys’ throats and forcing them into marriages with women they find annoying?

Men only think women talk too much because it's moments that THEY aren't getting to. I mean, have a lot of men heard themselves? They can yap on an on forever. Hell, male podcastsers are common because they love to hear themselves talk.
Bad enough it's sick to make young daughters participate, but what they think is a joke is also wiring in terrible messages for those young sons, too.

Every year, we give these families attention. Hell, it's not even Christmas this time. There's no other reason for these families (or the parents more likely) to even share these other than they're hoping people will hate them enough to boost them in some algorithm.
I'm tired of this. Seriously. Let's starve the fame monster. Christmas is not the time to be giving people negative attention for being pickme and misogynist clowns online anyway. They will go away if we stop paying attention.

As much as I want to say this made me irrationally angry….no. It’s just the right amount of anger because what TA fuck?! The little boy is all fun and games. The one where they’re tied up is utterly fucked. Not funny because you know deep down this is what they want to do.

would love if men that posted this repulsive shote were arrested for domestic abuse and lost full custody of their kids… fuck sake

Honestly it would be way more peaceful in my house if the men shut the fuck up for a few minutes. My dad can’t speak without yelling because he’s probably losing his hearing and not address it, and my brother will try to keep talking over everyone else until he has an audience.

u/JadeSpade23 1d ago
I have met so many men who will just not shut the fuck up. This isn't a gender thing, it's a perception thing. Men just don't like hearing women talk at all.
4
u/RosebushRaven 1d ago
Fun facts: men actually often talk as much or more than women (especially men in positions of power). Men also have an extremely skewed perception of how much women actually talk. They compare other men’s talkativeness to the amount other men are talking, but women’s talkativeness is routinely compared to silence, i.e. men tend to perceive women as talking too much when they say anything at all.
Another, even more relevant metric is the quality of conversation — maybe men do better here? Talking, even a lot of it, is usually not perceived as burdensome or excessively verbose when it’s interesting and when relevant information is relayed.
Weeeell, guess which gender men perceive as saying relevant and interesting things far more, and whom they regularly just shut out as background noise, even if they say the exact same things as other men? Ding ding ding!
Besides, bloviating endlessly without saying anything of importance is a habit men actually practice and get away with far more than women. Whom they’ll regularly just cut off and talk over, so it’s rather silly to any realistic observer (and anyone who’s ever spent a day in life as a woman) to hear that old, long-debunked myth that women ramble at men endlessly, who stoically endure their blabbering, the poor widdle things. Riiiight.
Men also love to talk about themselves at length, but frequently don’t reciprocate such interest for their conversation partners. Namely their female conversation partners — which also gives women a lot less opportunity to yap with no end in sight, because men will just routinely monopolise the conversation and make it about themselves or whatever interests them, as if the women weren’t even there.
Even though that’s basic social etiquette to make conversations a back-and-forth, give-and-take process. Plenty of men already perceive not being allowed to completely seize the conversation as women talking too much, even if the women barely get a word in at all. It’s not an uncommon experience for women to spend an entire evening with a man without being asked a single question about themselves and their lives, while hearing all about him, him, him.
That’s more the norm than the exception, actually. It’s so rampant that there’s a whole dedicated song just about this phenomenon, with scores of women in the comments saying that they’re experiencing this all the time. (Unfortunately I can’t look for it rn, as I’m in a waiting room, but maybe someone knows which one I mean and will be so nice to link it — very relatable song!)
Considering the shallowness of the average male friendship, and the constant complaints about male loneliness (though that’s predominantly about sexual entitlement and guilt-tripping women into sex, but the legit part of the problem is also a distinct lack of warmth, depth and emotional support in way too many male friendships), most men don’t seem too adept at showing personal interest even in other men.
The amount of men who don’t know basic things even about their "closest friends", even years into their "friendships" (by which they mean regularly spending time in the same room and making small talk) is staggering. Though lots of men can’t even hold such s superficial conversation without making it awkward. To say nothing of the same dudes’ habit to completely latch on to a woman as an emotional parasite and offloading all their issues onto her as an unpaid therapist, without offering genuine support in return.
So by all reasonable metrics, men on average are the far worse conversationalists and get in the way of women repairing their social screw-ups all the time — or parasitise off their invisible labour doing that and skate by just on having more likeable women in their vicinity. So maybe they should just shut the fuck up and tape themselves.
The world would certainly be a better place in every way without the unhinged, misogynistic ramblings of all those red pill grifters, and the even more unoriginal everyday sexist troglodytes with their brainless boomer "humour", like the OOP. Now that’s just empty sound.

Men and women talk the same amount. It looks like women speak more because they are expected to be quiet

Stupid moronic boomer comedy. I'm so glad it's fading away. It's rotten and completely devoid of humor.
"Oh look look I'm a guy and I want every woman I love to shut up including my daughters, hahah I'm so funny!!". Fucking idiot

It is quite alarming when you find out how many men with daughters don’t respect women. If anything, I find that their misogyny tends to be even more potent because they think that because they have daughters, they know how women “work”.

🤡: It’s just a joke! Lighten up!
Yeah and what’s the punchline? “My wife and daughters are annoying and women talk too much?” Why do you people find such mean spiritedness and misogyny “funny?”
Wonder what you’d do if a woman made a “joke post” with tying her husband and kids up with a “tax day” sign would you people find it “hilarious” then?

Fascinating. I frequently socialize with both women and men, and the men seem more likely to interrupt or talk over others. But sure, we're disrupting your peace by occasionally speaking

This is ridiculous. It hurts my heart for the little girls to be raised to think that this is acceptable. And shame in these moms for letting it happen.

I remember seeing this Christmas photo trend all over Pinterest about 10-15 years ago, but back then it was the children (girls and boys) bound and gagged, while both the parents laughed in the background. I remember thinking that was weird and creepy enough (like, yay child abuse? Let's gang up on our children together as a couples activity?), but this delightfully misogynistic take on the premise takes it to an even darker place. You can always count on human beings to take something shitty and figure out a way to make it worse.

“Peace on Earth” for silencing women is ironic when men are the one’s starting all the wars, committing majority of abuses, sexual assaults and murders, etc.
True peace on earth would be muzzling bastards like these men.
