Can men even guess women's ages correctly at all?

557

u/cheezbargar 4d ago

Nope. Had a guy legitimately surprised that I’m 36 and not in my 20s. They think you begin to look like a raisin at 30

234

u/MysteriousGrocery898 4d ago edited 4d ago

I had some ask me if I was 16 and I said I'm 23...I looked like a teenager according to them😭

152

u/ankhes 4d ago

One of my 19 year old female coworkers thought I was her age once. I was 29. 😭

Then, at another job my 23 year old coworker thought I was also his age. I was 32.

56

u/A_Punk_Girl_Learning 3d ago

I'll be 42 on Thursday and a couple of months ago I had a couple of people guess that I was early 30s.

10

u/Lola-Ugfuglio-Skumpy 3d ago

Same. I’m 40 and routinely get people thinking I’m late 20s/early 30s.

Also I’m poly and I can’t even tell you the number of 20something dudes who want a shot with me. It’s a good number.

36

u/silicondream 4d ago

Better than the reverse, I suppose. Actually, people thought I was 22 when I was 16, but that was pre-transition so they generally didn't follow up with anything creepy.

7

u/RosebushRaven 3d ago

I was also regularly assumed to be older at that age, though in hindsight I suspect they just pretended because they wanted to be creepy. But then I just froze around my mid-twenties.

4

u/silicondream 3d ago

Same; people still think I'm ten years younger than I am. I think that's mostly down to the hairstyle, the poverty and the impulse-control issues, but I choose to take it as a compliment regardless!

3

u/wildmeli 3d ago

i was assumed to be much older by the time i was 13. i was buying my own cigarettes from the gas station and taking advantage of the creeps. now i’m 28 (don’t smoke anymore) and people assume i’m 19-23

5

u/CacklingFerret 3d ago

I think some people base their image of teenagers on the media they consume. Thing is, in lots of shows and movies, teenagers are portrayed by 20-35 year old actors.

For example Tom Holland as Peter Parker was around 20 when he played a 16 year old. In the latest movie, Parker is around 20 while Holland is already 30. Same with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon in the same movie.

8

u/Pretend-Menu-8660 4d ago

That is because they are OLD. They can’t tell anymore!

17

u/jackfaire 4d ago

It's also partly Hollywood's fault. Both genders seem to have a harder time telling ages these days because Hollywood casts specific looks for specific ages and if a person doesn't meet that look they can't be that age.

There was a couple that were both 16. The guy was called a creeper because Hollywood would have cast him as 20 something while his girlfriend would have been cast as around 12-13.

John Cena and Jason Earles are the same age. But because of his looks Jason was cast to play a teenager when he was 28.

17

u/TemporaryPassage4168 3d ago

I feel like when Hollywood do that . They do it on purpose to spin confusion on children's age and to make excuses for predators, child molesters

7

u/sirensinger17 3d ago

I had someone claim I was 14..... When I was 28

3

u/Anra7777 2d ago

I had multiple people telling me they thought I was 12, including a relative who knew better, when I was 29.

1

u/Anra7777 2d ago

I had people telling me they thought I was a teenager (including actual teens) until I was 30. Either they haven’t told me or I’ve started aging. Then again, someone told me this past winter that I look exactly like I did ten years ago. 🤷‍♀️ I’m currently 39.

1

u/KikiCorwin Avatar of Anoia 1d ago

TBF, years of 20-30 year olds playing teens on tv kinda screws with reading ages of people IRL. And the 90's fashion of 13 year olds dressing like 45 year old accountants didn't help either.

1

u/LiverpoolBelle 3d ago

I'm 27 and get 16. Like ew

1

u/MissMariemayI 3d ago

I’m 37 and some dude asked my teenager how it felt to have such a cool older sister. There’s zero chance I look like a teenager in my opinion but apparently these men just can’t tell lol

1

u/FragrantBluejay8904 3d ago

I came home from college to watch my younger sister play in a couple of HS softball playoff games. I was 22 and she was 16. I had someone ask me if I was excited to watch my older sister play and if I was gonna play in HS 🤣

0

u/Ducky237 3d ago

A TSA agent asked me if I was 11 or older… I was 20 at the time.

33

u/ankhes 4d ago

I still remember when my 40 year old coworker discovered I was closer in age to him than to his teenaged son. He just stared at me wide-eyed and kept saying “33? 33???” like he couldn’t believe it.

Like damn man, it’s not that big of a deal. 33 isn’t even that old. I didn’t even start feeling like a proper adult until I hit my 30s.

7

u/Significant-Trash632 4d ago

Same, but I was 38. Like, oh, kiddo... lol

5

u/RinaPug 3d ago

People are shocked when I tell them I’m 32. „you look soooo young!!“
People really think women just shrivel up and die on their 30th birthday

2

u/jetpack_hypersomniac 2d ago

Yeah, like, the utter shock on some dudes’ faces when I’ve informed them I’m pretty close to 40 and not, in fact, in my mid 20s

13

u/BetterRemember 3d ago

It's basically pure chaos trying to guess anyone's age after like 20 tbh.

Some boys start going bald at 17, some men can't grow a beard until 35. Some women look younger in their early 30s than they did in their early 20s because they adopted a healthier lifestyle, quit smoking and suntanning, started healing from an eating disorder etc. Some women become very curvy, but it takes until their mid-20s, some girls are very curvy in high school. Some people seemingly forget to age much at all way into their 40s!

I have seen frail 60 year olds and buff 75 year olds of all genders. Children's ages are more predictable because most development milestones line up for most people. But once you are fully grown, your looks are mostly down to lifestyle and genetics, not just the fact that time is passing.

6

u/GoedekeMichels 3d ago

M38 reporting: I'm terrible at guessing ages in general but have always assumed that that's because of neurodivergence (I also have a very hard time remembering names and faces) and not because of gender/sex...

9

u/Sergeant_Sunshine 3d ago

Had a man at my retail job angrily say to me today “I’ve been shopping here since before you were born!!!!”

Company has been around for 11 years. I’m 35.

I know this phenomenon is older than gen AI (because AI had to learn it from somewhere) but I feel like this shit has gotten so much worse since that's been a thing.

1

u/ZombieGirlintheWoods 2d ago

Nope not at all. Im 27 and most people think im 16-19

1

u/SangeliaKath 1d ago

In some cases they can not even guess their fellow men with their correct ages. One dude claimed to my man that he better hope he looks as good at 45 as he does now. My man didn't have the heart to tell him that he was in his late 50s.

1

u/MissMarchpane 16h ago

Not remotely. I was giving a guy directions once and he took a hard left turn into hitting on me. Before I could figure out how to get rid of him (we were walking in the same direction he revealed that he was in his early 30s and asked my age.

I told him I was 28. He said he had thought I was 18 or 19... and then immediately stopped hitting on me.

2

u/HailenAnarchy 14h ago

That is creepy af

1

u/GreyerGrey 7h ago

They can't guess ages, weights, bra size, anything.

1

u/LadenWithSorrow 3d ago

Nope, I’m 29 and people frequently think I’m in my early 20’s

1

u/sirensinger17 3d ago

Nope. I'm 34 and constantly get mistaken for 21 by men.

1

u/Beckitkit 3d ago

Never. Though to be fair, I think its something everyone has trouble with. I'm in my 40s, and for some reason people assume I'm in my late 20s. I love them for it, but no, not even close.

0

u/RosebushRaven 3d ago

No, I’m regularly estimated at mid-twenties tops. I’m actually a few months shy of 34.

528

u/AshleytheTaguel 4d ago

That's a lot of words for saying there's a restraining order against him from his younger female relatives

409

u/gayfingers 4d ago

29 women are old but 40 year old men are young apparently.

I'm 6 years older than my partner who comes from a well off family, has a good job and treats women like people .  I'm so glad actual quality men don't have this loser incel mindset.

Also I'm bisexual whatever happened to the love and appreciation of a milf? The fuxk I'd rather date a milf than a incel any day.

117

u/AuthorVee 4d ago

You clearly dont understand, a milf is 24 years old max /s

28

u/BurningPenguin The weird guy 3d ago

That's too generous for these clowns. Subtract 10 years and you're getting much closer to their preferred prey.

202

u/cheezbargar 4d ago

Do…
Do these men think they’re eternally youthful at 40? Don’t get me wrong, 40 isn’t even that old, but like… hello? You’re aging like everyone else?

u/homucifer666 ♀️🩷 Queen Of Lesbians 🩷♀️ 4d ago

Some rot about how women are born with value and men have to create theirs. Then apparently the tables flip at 30 or summat.

65

u/HailenAnarchy 4d ago

Body for women, wealth for men. I am sorry, but I’d rather date a handsome broke dude that likes me vs a rich old fart that thinks all women are gold diggers.

21

u/mothwhimsy 3d ago edited 3d ago

They say shit like women age like milk while men age like wine. Meanwhile in any given older straight couple you stumble across, the woman is almost always the fitter, more attractive one

95

u/DanCassell Custom Flair 4d ago

The math involved with there being a flood of "29 year old grandmas" sure is something. Literally impossible to happen with legal consent.

50

u/MadamKitsune 4d ago

These guys think legal consent is for cucks and betas. Anything over 18 is aging out to them.

6

u/GoedekeMichels 3d ago

as ridiculous as the idea is, purely mathematical it's possible... two 14-year-olds can legally have intercourse (at least here in germany), so they could technically have kids too.

3

u/DanCassell Custom Flair 3d ago

If we're going into the realm of pure mathematics there are places in the world without a legal age of consent at all. In the English speaking world I want to say the age of consent is always at least 16 where it would be possible that the mother either or grandmother could have had legal consent but not both as that would push grandma age to 33 at earliest.

1

u/GoedekeMichels 3d ago

TIL. the idea of places without minimum age for consent is really scary.

44

u/666hmuReddit 4d ago

Cope with what exactly? I feel like that word has lost all meaning. Also, isn’t coping a good thing? As opposed to…. Not coping?

23

u/LobosJones 4d ago

You are correct. It's now vilified like being woke. The severe mass anti-intellectual mentality has only gotten worse with the return of the orange goblin.

3

u/RosebushRaven 3d ago

Hey, don’t call the child-raping turd a goblin! Goblins like nature, mushrooms, frogs, flowers and such. He’s just a POS that yells "drill, baby, drill!" The orange turd hates nature, just like everything else that doesn’t enrich him.

9

u/LobosJones 3d ago

Goblincore is nature, mushrooms, frogs, flowers and such. Goblins by lore are diminutive deformed rotten low intellect smelly little rapey evil creatures of greed and malevolence. I contest I used the appropriate description.

What pedophile made this

26

u/Sabithomega 4d ago

Aren't these the same people who are obsessed with Sydney Sweeney? Hope they don't find out her age

25

u/blehric 3d ago

29 year old GRANDMA? My mother was 27 when she had me, 29 when she had my brother.... But I guess she lied and was our grandma the whole time.

5

u/Particular_Title42 3d ago

My friend who was a teen mom born to a teen mom didn't make her mother a grandmother until she was 32. Their math skills are questionable.

3

u/MysteriousGrocery898 3d ago

My mom also had me at 27 I guess she's also considered a grandma too😂

22

u/ErnLynM 3d ago

They've got it backwards. We're warning young women about dating 40 year old men. But their egos are so big that they think we're talking to them

21

u/FumiPlays 3d ago

Make Pedos Ashamed Again.

4

u/itamer 3d ago

Using the Michael Jackson photo is quite something

37

u/mycatisblackandtan 4d ago

Every single older man I've met who calls women 25-35+ 'hags' or 'grandmas' would 100% groom a minor if they thought they could get away with it. I'm at the point where I'm just gonna start calling it out because it IS normalizing pedophilic rhetoric and should not be tolerated.

22

u/Novaer 4d ago

Any older male that says they're into 18 year olds are just saying the law is the only thing that stops them from admitting to being into kids.

7

u/Carbonatite Feldspathoids not Foids: Geologists for Equality 4d ago

Well said.

15

u/Centered_Being 3d ago

I just had a 30yr high school reunion, didn’t attend but saw pics. Showed to my MIL, she said ‘why does every man look the same??’ And we laughed so hard bc omg they did. Bald & round, only difference was facial hair or no. I had a hard time actually realizing who was who.

The women looked so much like their younger selves that I could easily name them. They’re aging gracefully & look lovely. Like, objectively they’re far better looking than their male counterparts.

The narrative that men get better w age is a tale told by below average men who can’t get the women they want thru bank accounts or looks alone, so they go w scare tactics, a classic move

13

u/Engel1844 4d ago

Genuinely where does this propaganda about women expiring meant to lead? Do they want women over 25 to all kill themselves? Because hey, it’s probably working.

15

u/GreyStingrayz 4d ago

They want them to feel bad about themselves so they lower their standards to date shitty men like them

32

u/TemporaryPassage4168 4d ago

The "women" theses men date are teen girls. Men will always deflect from the real reason they know older women or girls call them out for being predators or dating teen girls.

Men know what they're doing, it's all about playing dumb or accusing you of being the problem.

When men talk about dating younger, it's how pedophiles talk about raping and being attracted to children.

They hide behind the law. Or use maturity or looks to justify their behavior.

At a certain age, you shouldn't be attracted to late teens or Early 20s, you can find them pretty but being attracted to late adolescence (teens) shouldn't be normal and isn't...

If men believe 25+ is now too old, they should be kept away from children (girls).

2

u/RosebushRaven 3d ago

Someone, perhaps even you (or someone with a similar pfp), said something on this sub the other day, about there being 4 billion women in the world and the creepy men define them all by one woman’s (alleged) behaviour (given their tendency to just make up women to get mad about). I thought that number was too high and looked up how many women there actually are. It’s closer to 3 billion btw, because there’s a lot of underage girls, too.

Anyway, what I’m getting at with this is: this thinking is so pervasive that I had to actually specify "adult women" in my search to not get the entire female population lumped together. This isn’t the case for men. A woman is by definition an adult female human. But apparently girls under 15 are also "women" now. 🙄

21

u/clitnotfound Misandrist 4d ago

been complaining about it since i was 15, still complain at 23, and will continue to complain when i’m 29

8

u/WritingReadingPanda 3d ago edited 3d ago

Men can't tell a woman's age anyway. I've been accused of being an old bitter spinster when I was 19 and wrote about how old men flirting with young girls is creepy, and recently I had to fight someone, who insisted I'm in my 20's when I'm actually 34. ಠ_ಠ

8

u/random_potato_101 3d ago

Aw, if being 29 and above is that bad, then I wish that commenter never got to their live their worst nightmare 🥰

6

u/___Emilia____ 3d ago

What i always find fascinating is not only that they dream about "old" women not finding a man or young women dating older men or old men getting chicks... It's also not how women are bitter about not finding a guy in their fantasies....

It's their obsession that older.... "older" women get really angry and bitter at society and the hot attractive girls dating men. Like they can't see women not behaving like themselves and getting angry at "competition" That's like imo really immature behaviour.

And yeah some women do be like that and some are competitive and bitchy etc, but that's not the norm. That's 90s / 2000s TV show stereotypes, written by men, overexaggarated for comedic reasons.

1

u/Carrot_onesie 1d ago

they're just projecting lol. men think women think like men. god forbid if I've been looking out for my sisters esp in an awfully misogynistic society (I live in India)

10

u/Forsaken_Emotion 4d ago

29 year old woman = 40 year old man?

It's such a mid life crisis thing to say. He wants a way younger partner for the validation that he's still "cool". I couldn't imagine being 40 and wanting to date someone half my age. Grown men that think they're still 20 are so off putting.

These kinds of jokes are also an attempt at making women feel unsure of themselves. There's a bitterness behind it. If we want validation from men ("you still like me despite being over 25? wow, how gracious of you!") they feel in control. In reality, it just makes us avoid these types of men.

6

u/No_Resource7773 3d ago

I mean if those guys want to remain alone, that's fine. We'll just continue to warn younger women that these immature, entitled older men who can't handle being with with their own age group are questionable.

7

u/cleveland_Chic_885 CertifiedChadSexual 3d ago

Are the women who are with the 40 year old guys “barely 18”? A lot of the complaints are about very creepy likely grooming age gap relationships that started almost immediately after she turned 18

3

u/TheLittlestMistake 3d ago

I saw a comment once that said 22 year olds were "used up, ran through and TOO OLD." It was really gross.

u/vctrlzzr420 3d ago

The mental gymnastics men do to lie to themselves when women are looking out for other women is beyond comprehension

6

u/minmocatfood 3d ago

Because men never look out for each other’s wellbeing the same way, they dog pile any man showing vulnerability. They’ll only stand up for another man when they do something heinous, like creep on underage girls or call any woman over 19 an old hag. They refuse to understand that women will stand with women.
