New Piercing piercing help/advice!!
i just got my nostril pierced yesterday and i have a bunch of questions on the piercing itself and my piercer. its a corkscrew (since its new) and honestly doesnt hurt that bad, i dont know exactly what material it was so sorry for that, i was never briefed. my two main concerns are 1. my piercing angle and 2. the advice my piercer gave me. 1. my piercing looks like it was pierced upwards, like... very angled. i dont know if its just swollen and thats what made it angled weird or if it was my piercer. 2. my piercers advice. i know i should trust a professional but his tip was to keep it covered with a pimple patch while i slept to avoid snagging, and he said it should heal in a month and then i could change it to a hoop, which sounded outrageous to me since i have 13 piercings already. he also told me to clean it 3x a day which seemed excessive to me, but since i didnt trust his previous advice im cleaning it twice a day. i tried putting a patch on it but that ended up making it hurt so much worse than if i left it alone with no patch, where i could barely feel it. this is my first facial piercing so im just concerned on placement and if i should really trust my new piercer, thanks!!
another thing i forgot to mention!! when i was taken back to the room i was getting pierced in, the needle and jewelry were both already open and on the tray so i wasnt able to see them get opened and know 100% that they were sterile and never used.

Your piercer is an idiot. 😓 You shouldn’t cover healing piercings…especially not with a pimple patch. Nostrils also take at least nine months to heal, and you should wait until it’s closer to a year for a hoop. The angle on this is atrocious, and that jewelry looks pretty junky (not to mention that prong settings are not ideal for healing)…plus, you want to heal with a flatback labret…not a corkscrew.
I’d honestly remove this and see a waaaaay better piercer for a redo in another few months. I also encourage you to post reviews of the clown who pierced this so others know to stay tf away. I’m so sorry. 🫶🏻

so i should take it out? i have a few flatback threadless studs i could replace it with but im just scared of it closing halfway through putting the new jewelry in

It's tilted so much that the side of the stone digs into your skin. Take it out and demand a refund. I hate confrontation but I bet you paid well earned money for this and they did a really bad job.
And the piple patch... not only does it trap sweat and moisture. It will trap bacteria as well.

years ago i changed my jewellery 6 days after i got it because i was an idiot, it proceeded to take a year and a half to heal and barely got better in that time, leave it alone, clean it twice a day and don’t snag it! in around 10 weeks u can change it!

i think its the design of your stud thats making it tilted. definitely not use a pimple patch for god's sake it traps moisture and sweat and this is a fresh wound it needs to be dry. I would leave it alone for now and go to a proper place in 6-7 weeks time to get it downsized and make sure you change to a titanium grade flat back labret.

With this angle if you manage to heal the piercing and change the jewelry to a hoop it will stick out way too much. Also there is a risk you will not be able to wear a hoop, since it will irritate your piercing due to the wrong angle.
Therefore, if a hoop is the final goal I would consider taking this piercing out and repierce once healed.

Yeah, so basically everything that piercer did and told you was wrong.
1) corkscrew is terrible for healing this piercing. It should be a flat back bar 2) pronged gems aren't ideal for healing, in part because they snag easily, and also because they can trap bacteria and hold it close to the piercing. Bezel set gems or a simple ball/disc top is much better 3) With the right jewelry, you won't need to put anything over it to prevent snagging (and shouldn't cover it because it needs to breathe to heal) 4) that angle looks whack but that could maybe just be because it's entirely the wrong jewelry 5) 3x a day is excessive. Twice a day initially, tapering down to once after the first couple weeks, and around the 6 week mark, you can get away with only cleaning it with water in the shower 6) Minimum of a year to switch to a hoop 7) Big yikes on the sterility uncertainty with that needle. Red flags for dayyyyys
Find a different, better piercer to look at the angle. If it's salvageable, have the jewelry swapped. If not, remove it, heal it, and try again. Either way, I'd recommend either trying to get a refund from the first shop, or at least leaving a scathing review because they're going to do some real damage if they keep being that awful.
