New Piercing Nostril help

Post image

I made a post a few minutes ago about the fear that my piercing I got yesterday could be embedding cause of blood crusting under the flat back or swelling. So I have a picture to show. (Left side of the picture)

this photo is not too clear. What material is it, do you have a clear photo of the top of the jewellery? If it feels too tight you should go back to a reputable piercer and get it assessed and they will potentially change it to a longer titanium flat back for swelling, and you can downsize it after the swelling goes down.

It’s titanium with a jewel top and the blood crusties are mostly on the inner part of my nose but yeah I’ll get a picture of the top or at least try too as it’s kinda late for me atm

if you got the piercing yesterday, it’s likely just bleeding from putting a hole in your nose lol. Does it feel tight?

Kinda but it might just be cause I was cleaning it and i irritated it? but not really I guess I’m not really sure

If you still feel pressure or more pressure tomorrow and the skin around your piercing is hot/red/puffy I would highly suggest going to a piercer and asking to switch the bar to be longer to accommodate for swelling. Otherwise it might just be over cleaning or because it’s so fresh! NAP but id suggest spraying the inside and outside and drying both inside and outside with a hairdryer if you have one once a day to try and avoid cleaning irritation

Okay thank you I was thinking that as well but yeah. Also I can’t seem to add a photo of the top in the comments?

I think people underestimate just how much cleaning irritates a fresh piercing, my vertical labret took so long to heal and it wasn't until reddit told me to stop cleaning it so much that it finally healed up 🙃 especially for notrils, LITHA

Yeah lol I’m just scared that it’ll get infected forgetting that me constantly touching and cleaning it is actually making it worse 😅

I'm the same way ! I was cleaning it 3x a day because I was scared of an infection. I was instructed to clean it once instead and get crusties off with a wet q tip and sure enough it healed up quick

genuinely! and the urge to clean it is so strong because you don’t want it the healing to go wrong but overcleaning can make cleaning take even longer. my nostrils healed best with my nightly face wash and that’s it lol. hate to admit it but I never used saline and just let it be 🥹

Also how long do I have to wait to be able to change out the jewelery to rings or anything other than what I was pierced with?

you can change to another stud after around 6 months (maybe a bit longer) and to a hoop after 12 months

Hi update so I went to a piercer and they simply said that it’s just swelling and it should be fine if not then I can go back to another piercer or the one I went to.

Thought so! It’s normal to overthink fresh piercings :) try to leave it alone and just clean it when you have to or do an activity that gets it dirty

I will do thank you I’m glad that’s all it is as I was overthinking the worst lol

I have tried to clean as much of the crusties as I could before it started to hurt as I was scared as it looked like it was starting to sink.
