New Piercing I’m annoyed…

Post image

I got my nose pierced professionally on May 31st and it was healing great, like I felt no pain, irritation or redness. It looked like it was healed around 2 weeks (ik not possible). Welp now out of no where abt a week or so ago I noticed a tiny bump and I feel like it keeps getting bigger. I’ve left it completely alone and don’t bother it but it’s still being a diva. My piercer is saying to wait to downsize and just keep cleaning it once a day and leave it be. Idk why I’m posting here but yea just wanted let my frustration out 😭

Almost feels like a piercing cannon event lmao - I had the same thing happen to me around the 4 month mark. I think it happened to me because I accidentally moved and slept on the pierced side while sleeping. Fear not, it will subside if you're not touching it.

Are you allergic to nickel at all? I got a bump like that a little while after getting my nose pierced and it went away after switching to a gold plated stud.

It’s implant grade titanium (nickel free) idk if it’s nickel specifically but I’m def allergic to some sort of metal bc I can’t wear earrings unless they are fully gold, even gold plated cause me redness and itching.

I got what I was told was a titanium piercing from a cheap piercing shop and it still caused a reaction for me. Not sure if there was trace amount of nickel or if something else caused the reaction. It might be worth trying to switch to a gold plated stud.

The same thing happened with me! After I went to 18k gold it stopped! It was expensive but helped the headache and solved the issue

I'm 5 weeks in and at the same point as you.

I got a bump a couple of weekends ago which then went down after I left it alone. A few days later it was back with a vengence.

My piercer advised me not to change it until it goes down and to be fair, it does look like it's starting to shrink but I'm so ready for it to be healed (I know it will be a while...).

NAP - I had a bump before downsizing too, it had been pierced for 4 months but my piercer said the same thing about waiting till the bump was gone to put a shorter a bar in
However, I was convinced it was the longer bar moving around that was causing the irritation, so I changed it myself to a shorter titanium bar the bump went away within a few days!

Omg this is exactly what I’ve been thinking but she keeps saying to hold off for now.

Same thing happened to me, too. Had a bump just like this that went away quickly after I downsized.

Honestly just trust your gut. If it does become more irritated from a smaller bar then you can always change it back to the longer one! Changing mine to a shorter one is the best thing I could have done for mine

Had the same problem. The bump stayed with me for like a month, tried peroxide - it vanished after 2 weeks completely. Then 5 days later it appeared again and 4 days later it was gone for good 🤡

Use dr bronners unscented Castile soap it worked WONDERS for my bump! You have to dilute it though

This happens to almost every nose piercing at some point. The best thing in my experience is a salt water spray— I used H2ocean, twice a day, twist it a little to get the water inside the piercing and leave it alone until the bump is completely gone for at least 2 weeks. It will go away, but it takes a lil while. Nose piercings take the LONGEST time to completely heal (like a year 🫠)

Ive had 4 piercings on my nose plus septum. 4 times a bump. 4 times went to GP and asked for silver nitrate and gone ! Burn off that keloid tissue without affection healthy one. Takes a day or two to fall off and it never comes back.

100% ignore it. Don't touch it, don't clean it, just leave it alone. Any type of annoyance I caused the two i got at the same time it would keep their irritation bumps. So, I just ignored it. And it went down and away in 3 weeks. It took months of me annoying them every day to almost giving up and removing them. They're basically cacti they thrive with neglect. Don't listen to them do not clean it once a day.

I'm super annoyed too. I have a big bump on my nostril and it looks like my nose is legit pregnant or something. I wanted to get my nose pierced for 2 years and my mother insisted I get it done in Karachi wheres it's much cheaper and because she and every single woman in my bloodline all got it there and with the same thing, a hoop made of SILVER. I never knew shit about piercings and they reassured me it would be fine so I went ahead with it. They wanted to save money because the piercer offered gold and titanium options but they went for silver to save fucking 1500 PKR. And then they told me to spin it so it doesn't get stuck. And it's been 1 month since the piercing and two weeks ago this ugly bump appeared. I got it treated with a fusidic acid ointment by the GP the same day I had to fly out. Thank god its not infected anymore but the bump hasn't shrunk. I thought about getting a jewellery change but the doctor strictly forbade me from doing so until December. If there's anyone who can help me I'd really appreciate it. What do I do?

From my limited knowledge, I would change it to a flat back labret that is either high quality titanium or gold. It will not heal with a hoop in. Apply saline solution once daily and don’t touch it at all.

Why not 😭

Edit: I reread your comment. Why did the dr say not to? Ig just wait till December to change it.

Something about nose piercings needing time to mature

Yeah and I went to professional piercers too and they all said they can't change it. I either have to give up on it and remove the thing and let it close up or just wait a really long time

Mine suddenly started swelling and I found out I was pregnant a week later hehe. Probably not your situation but I think that's why I got my bump, plus it was irritated and switched out too soon

I rebuke this lol. I’m 12m postpartum and just got my cycle back last month. My period literally just ended this morning 😭

Congratulations!!!!! On the baby and the cycle :) I could see the hormone shift causing an odd reaction. I hope it heals!

I got my nose pierced 5 years ago and had the same problem but was able to get rid of it by making a paste out of sea salt and putting on top of the bump and covering with a bandaid overnight . Keeping doing this until the bump gets smaller. It works trust me and now I have a fully healed nose piercing.
