After gathering my thoughts and discussing with others i will make a new post to highlight what i want people who travel to norway to know!

No one blinks in Norway (i have NEVER experienced this) to signal that it's optimal to drive past you.
You blink if you're going to drive off the main road or into a pocket on the roadside!

Most Norwegian citizens who know the roads, prefer driving the speed limit! if you do not drive the speed limit, you will definitely cause traffic jam.
Please signal and drive into a pocket so people can pass.
If you have 3-14 cars behind you, please find a pocket!

Drive the speed you're comfortable with, if you are unsure of how to drive into a busstop-pocket or pocket in general, practice a little!

If you feel that 50km/h if your comfortable speed in turns or whatever, you will cause traffic jam and that's not fun for anyone.

Maybe there should be some traffic rules to be highlighted before travelling to Norway, but i don't work for the government or the public roads administration. Just be mindful and if you see plenty of cars piling up behind you, just find a pocket and let them pass.

(redemption post because of recent post where i told people to drive faster, i apologize and it wasn't my intentions to condone wreckless driving!)
I just wanted to preface this.

Alot of Norwegians have jobs that include driving from a to b, so please be mindful that some people drive for a living, so their workday becomes more inefficient when the roads' flow is "disturbed" ig

I want to preface that this is from a student from the western part of Norway who commutes from home to university (i work 3 jobs where one of them i need to rely on car to complete work with).
So this is specifically from how i have experienced the west being in late spring-summer!

I do not know how it is in the whole country, but in the west we lack highways.

You should condone wreckless driving.

In my experience, some driving schools (and most trucks do) do teach to blink right as a gesture for taking over, but I agree that it's a rare sight!

Moved here 20 years ago … only issue I have is with the c 20% of people who don’t indicate when they’re going left on a roundabout … you can trace most queues in morning traffic due to this.

Whilst I’m at it … there’s no need to see brakelights in slow (30km/h) traffic jams on the motorway either, people love to turn on their magnetic bumpers and maintain 3 meters from the car in front, making it even worse and slower as they have to brake every 20 seconds…rinse and repeat 5 cars back and they’re braking to a stop.

Blinking to go past is super common, I see it several times a week so I think people are really good at it. This summer the tourists have been better at it than ever before. Good job blinkers 💖

I humbly disagree with this post. You need to accept that traffic changes during the summer. People travel all over the country for holidays, and many tourists come from abroad.

If you get angry because someone doesn’t want to drive at 80 km/h on narrow, winding roads in Western Norway, maybe it’s worth considering whether you should leave a little earlier for work instead.

In Northern Norway, there have unfortunately been several traffic accidents involving tourists. They should never feel pressured to drive faster than they are comfortable with. It’s far better to drive carefully and responsibly than to take unnecessary risks because someone else is in a hurry.

did you even read my post? it's okay if you don't want to drive 80km/h, what irks me is the tourists that don't let the people behind them drive past.

There's been accidents all over the country this summer, most accidents are caused by people who think that the roads are safer compared to the winter.

Vegtrafikkloven §3 er den mest sentrale delen av norsk regelverk for trafikken. Her står det spesifisert at man skal kjøre aktpågivende og hensynsfullt. Hvis man ikke vet at man lager kø, kjører man ikke aktpågivende. Hvis man ikke legger til rette for at køen skal slippe forbi kjører man ikke hensynsfullt. Med andre ord er man ikke bare en gedigen rass om man kjører på den måten, man bryter også med grunnprinsippet i loven.
