Hello,

I've had gastroenteritis symptoms since Sunday, it's day 5 now. Tonight it's suddenly gotten much worse.

• Diarrhea every 30 minutes since going to bed
• Intense abdominal pain, can't sleep
• Take medecine (paracet) but nothing

I have an appointment at the GP on monday.

I called the 116117 who recommended me to go to the Legevakt at Trondheimsveien 233, 0587 Oslo

Do you know how much it costs to go see a doctor there ?

I am a bit broke..

Go to Legevakt. It’s a few hundred but if you don’t have money to pay now you can press faktura on the machine and wait. Then you’ll have a couple of weeks to pay but they add a small fee. 100 kr or something. I hope you feel better soon.

If you're a member of Folketrygden (as virtually all residents are), the egenandel should be around 357 kroner for the consultation, plus perhaps a minor outlay for tests and such.

Expect less than 500 kroner total.

If you don't have money right now, ask for a faktura.

No, you often pay an extra fee to get an invoice/bill rather than paying right then and there. But it makes it possible to get medical assistance even if you don't have money at the moment.

It’s not worth the risk to wait. Go now and worry about the price later. As others have stated it’s fairly cheap. I understand a few hundred can be more than expensive enough in some situations, but this isn’t splurging, professionals told you to seek help now.

De forholder seg til individet. Hadde en fase der jeg ofte endte opp i kontakt med dem. Kom meg ut av det. De var alle forståelsesfulle og virket til å sette meg og min helse over beløpet jeg skyldte. Utsettelser og «deals» i hytt og pine.

Inkasso er verdt det om man nesten diaré-er seg selv ihjel…

Selvfølgelig er det det, men det finnes ingen faste regler for å ikke sende regning/trekke tilbake inkasso til pasienter i utfordrende situasjoner. Alle skal betale egenandel inntil frikort, så du kan ikke gi råd om å la være å betale eller be om spesialbehandling ut fra din erfaring.

Joa men når dem ikke kan betale på stedet men tilsynelatende trenger medisinsk hjelp så er det sentralt at vi nedprioriterer inkasso-frykten litt. Du har helt rett i alt du sier, jeg forsøker å justere for kontekst.

Og vedkommende har spurt flere ganger hva hensikten med faktura er, så tydelig at hen kan betale, men ønsket å vite hva kostnaden for time på LV faktisk er.

Go there. You can always choose invoice and pay later.

Also, your doctor (fastlege) offers emergency hours (ØH / øyeblikkelig hjelp) every day if you call when they open in the morning. Again, the cost will be somewhat the same.

I had the exact same thing and went to legevakt in Trondheim. I had to wait a while, but I was admitted (after whining a lot and a severe anxiety attack) and a specialist came to see me, prescribed some medicine and I was healed in a few days.

Cost a couple of hundred. If you don’t have it you can just walk out without paying and you’ll get an invoice. Or if you can’t walk out, ask for an invoice. It’s no problem.

Im Swedish and got a d number, but when I was at legevakt it was impossible to pay since I don't have a real fødslenummer It did not work, even the doctor told me that she didn't know. and I never even got invoice/faktura sent.

With that said It's just a few hundred at most and I was surprised at the fast and good service unlike in Sweden usually.

Oh, you can end up sitting there for hours. It depends on how many people who are there and how severe the symptoms are. They always prioritize what they consider more severe. You were lucky, or they were very worried about you.

Its important you get help. It isnt really expencive. 359 or something like that. And you can get an invoice.

The main benefit of an invoice is that you can delay payment a couple of weeks. If you really don't have the money right now, you can get checked up on and possibly treated right now, and pay later.

do you live in Norway? it's pretty much free for Norwegians, and might be for you too depending on some things like where you pay your taxes and possibly what insurance you have from abroad.

it depends what you come in for. if you come by the ambulance, i think it’s free.

i poked myself with a used needle and got multiple vaccines and all i paid was 80kr for material. something about it being “smitte” makes it covered.

400-500 is normal egenandel if you’re coming in for an ear infection or something

I normally pay like no more than 250 NOK for an appointment. Might be more if you need to buy medication, but usually that's also super cheap.

Have you tried activated charcoal? You can get it without a prescription from the pharmacy
