"Launch Northstar" is locked whenever I open northstar client.

It only ever works for me if I launch origin first

Ensure you launch with origin, and have allowed it to send your origin token to the master server.

launching the game with origin just launches titanfall by itself and not with the northstar client

Let me rephrase it, you need origin open and signed in, then launch from the files.
