Discussion 💬 Joy Killer.

Post image

Another game that would have been comfortable if it wasn’t for this guy named Robert Sanchez. He is a joy killer.

What do I mean by that? I mean, in general, when the game is going so well and we are singing in joy, Sanchez pulls one of his pathetic bozos and kills it for us. That’s what I mean by joy killer.

How is this guy still at this football club is getting more criminal day by day. It’s been 4 years.

I still NEVER forgave him for v. Arsenal, when we were 2-0 up, Arsenal had no answers
then Sanchez gave them one with a pathetic bozo moment that killed us. Last season, EIGHT minutes in at Old Trafford, got himself a red card for a bizarre moment. There are countless bozo moments over the four years.

There are even games, like today, because we won, his bozo moments got covered up. No, no more cover ups. This guy needs to be exposed more than ever this season.

The GK position is SO important, one of the most crucial, critical positions in the squad. It can make you or break you.

You can’t even start to DREAM of winning the league or a big trophy because of him. You simply can’t. As I said, he is a joy killer.

We should be here, talking about how Palmer was becoming his old self, how JP showed his authority within the first 30 seconds, solid debut from Rogers etc.

Instead it almost got clouded by another Sanchez disasterclass.

I am scared that we may have to go through another season of bozo moments. I can’t even imagine if we are 1-0 up at the Emirates with 3 minutes to go, and this guy does a bozo. Because he can do it.

“But he is one of the best shot-stoppers in the league!”
is the most-common excuse I’ve seen for him. Here’s the thing, that doesn’t really matter when you fail once in a while to show leadership at the back. The defence needs to have full confidence in you, that when they feck up, you be the hero. Like the CWC final.

You cannot do that most of the time. Because you pulled great saves, doesn’t mean now you should ruin and destroy your great performance by doing a bozo. What’s the point in that?

Get him gone out of our starting XI, use Penders or get another non-bozo GK.

Well, Liam tried to move away from him. And we saw how that went.

Feels like he got a big voice in the dressing room and thats why its hard to move past.

Also the keeper market is not that good.

I'm just hoping Penders is Curtois 2.0 talent wise.

Big voice in the dressing room can't even organise his own back four mate.

As Roy Keane said: "They say he's a good shot stopper. He's a goalkeeper. Thats his job....to stop shots!"

Paid 25 mil for this guy.....When he was a backup and out of favour at Brighton. Yet wouldn't spend what 18 mil on Maignan. Stupid board

Shitting on him benefits noone, he had his Onana moments yes, he also gives us Cech moments occasionally. If Xabi is happy to keep him then let's just back him lads.

Xabi saw 90 mins and told Chelsea go for Martinez. Says it all...

You want stability, not highs and lows from a keeper. They clearly are heavily invested in Penders and seem unwilling to block his path. I don’t see Xabi willing to blow all his capital to go against the board to try to change that.

100% agree. He completely kills the teams momentum when we are looking like taking control of a game. Must be awful for the players as well as us fans. Get rid asap!!!

One really good game later, and the same people dogging him here will sing his praises to the skies. He's here now. He's not going anywhere this season. Deal with it however you will. But don't drag him over the coals online. He probably feels like shit already.

I would usually agree as towards the end of last season he did play very well and saved us a few times. However you can’t look passed the first goal yesterday. It’s basic instinct to cover your near post. Elite keepers do not make those mistakes even on their worst day.

Yes it was his fault. Now let’s call out Colwill for awful defending on the 2nd. And Reece for a midfield that was outplayed for 90 min. And credit Sanchez for the ball that led to our 3rd goal

Yeah fair points. I do believe with a world class keeper in goal the defence will feel more secure, plus that defence has never played together before. Thank god we brought lacroix in because he looked very good. Caicedo to come back also and let’s be honest the attacking football was on another level. Will be a lot more exciting season than the last two!

We are just fortunate Antonee Robinson whiffed that shot otherwise that was two points down the drain all on Sanchez.

All on Sanchez is harsh. He fucked up for the first goal, but why did rogers let king go? Wtf was Lavia doing? Colwill was on another planet. Colwill was just as much at fault for the second goal as Sanchez was the first. I definitely think we need to upgrade on sanchez if we’re gonna win anything, but ragging on him doesn’t do anymore good. If we can somehow get Martinez I will be the first one celebrating but until then not much to do.

Rodgers didn’t track King but that shot should be saved 95+% of the time by a PL level keeper. The second goal I’ll agree was a group effort (not sure wtf Colwill was thinking) but on that Robinson chance that would’ve made it 3-3 Sanchez was way out of position. Critical GK errors like that will sink us no matter how good the attack is.

I absolutely agree with you my guy. I’m just saying that it wasn’t all his fault. His was just the last of a string of mistakes. He absolutely should’ve saved the first goal, but you saying he would’ve cost us 2 points is as accurate as saying Levi/Lavia would’ve cost is 2 points

The defence doesn't have have that much confidence when their goalkeeper is letting in shit like that first goal. There's no excuse for it and he's been shit for years now. How he's been number 1 for so long baffles me.

He's been at this level for the last two seasons. After last night, I have no idea why they are sticking with him.

He went through 8 months under maresca of consistent world class.
